The Kings Cup Regatta in Phuket is Asia’s biggest regatta, and has just completed its annual event in Phuket. The event really marks the start of high season for sailing around Phuket, with many Phuket charter yachts either watching or competing, and then being heavily booked on charters until the end of April.
Around this time each year, as high season in Thailand kicks into action, a selection of superyachts from the Med and Indonesia head to Phuket to cruise the stunning sailing grounds of Phang Nga Bay, Krabi, the Similan and Phi Phi Islands, and to visit the Andaman Sea destinations of Langkawi, Myanmar and the Andaman Islands.This year is no exception, and in this article we highlight a few of these amazing luxury yachts that are available for a Phuket boat rental in the coming months.
The east coast of Phuket offers all year round sailing, with the stunning scenery of Phang Nga Bay being protected by land masses on both sides. May to October is southwest monsoon winds so the waters west of Phuket, exposed to the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal, and with no protected anchorages, are off limits during that time. From the 1st November, the Similan Islands, Surin Islands and the Mergui Archipelago of Myanmar are officially open for business.
