The Blue Peter – The Number One Yacht for Regatta Charters!

On Sunday, Tom from the Boatbookings Team was lucky enough to get out on the water for an afternoon of sailing on board THE BLUE PETER. Built in 1930, she has been under the ownership of owner/skipper Mat for 13 years. THE BLUE PETER and the ocean are evidently two of Mat’s greatest passions in life! He has nurtured her and restored her into the beautiful condition that she is now in – a true labor of love! THE BLUE PETER is currently undergoing a comprehensive refit following the installation of a completely new mast. Her new mast is 2.5m taller than her previous one and, with a larger mainsail, this makes her even faster and more spectacular than she was before!

She has had many successful regatta outings over the years, this year being no different. She has consistently been one of the top competitors with strong performances in the Monaco Classics Week, Regatta Royales in Cannes and Les Voiles de St Tropez. Mat and First Mate Gary welcome guests on board to join them for exciting Regatta Charters, their comprehensive packages ensuring that you will truly experience classic regatta racing on one of the most successful and prestigious boats in her class.

Mat, Gary and their crew are about to embark on a transatlantic crossing via Barcelona and the Seychelles before crossing the Atlantic to Antigua where she will be based over Christmas. Opposites attract at the Cannes Boat Show!

The Festival de la Plaisance or Cannes Boat show is now in full swing, the Boatbookings team have been checking out all that the show has to offer. The highlight of Thursday morning was going on board and being showed around KOJI, a striking 34m Leopard, she is utterly unique and finished beautifully throughout. KOJI feels, modern spacious and exotic, her three cabins are luxurious and there is even a large cinema room on board! The fore and aft deck spaces make relaxing and socialising effortless and enjoyable, both deck spaces can be shaded if the sun gets too strong!

The last appointment of the day was a drinks party on board the beautiful sailing yacht NORTHERN SPIRIT, berthed at Port Canto for the duration of the show. A speciality cocktail made by the crew was the perfect way to end the day. We were lucky enough to be shown around NORTHERN SPIRIT by the Captain Richard, needless to say we all fell in love with the elegance and charm of this majestic sailing yacht. As we chatted with other guests and the brilliant crew, we sipped our cocktails and watched the sun go down over the bay of Cannes. NORTHERN SPIRIT couldn’t be more different than KOJI, but we realised that there is something unique and truly special about sailing yachts. Either KOJI or NORTHERN SPIRIT would be perfect for families or friends looking to book luxury yacht charter vacations in the Mediterranean . With only a couple more days to go we are heading back out to discover some more stand out yachts from the show, stay tuned!

Nieves Morales, our Charter Broker in Spain highly recommends PRINCESA DEL MAR, a classic sailing yacht which has a license to cruise with up to 40 guests. She is a Turkish schooner, built in 1989 at the Marmaris shipyard. She is entirely made of solid wood, with wonderful deck spaces for sunbathing and socialising. This beautiful schooner has been travelling between Ibiza and Formentera since 1991 with an extremely professional crew, ensuring an excellent charter experience.
