Despite the forecast of rain, the weather was on our side during the Cannes yacht show this week! Yacht shows are a fantastic way for the Boatbookings team to see various boats in one place, so we can meet the crew and see what they look like in detail. This allows us to pick you the most appropriate and high standard yachts for your charter.
The Monaco Yacht Show 2014 is going to be the biggest show to date, graced with the world’s finest crewed motor and sailing Superyachts. The usual venue of Port Hercules has been transformed in recent months with the construction of the new Yacht Club de Monaco, which has not only enhanced the amenities on offer but also opened up plenty of new berths available for Super and Mega yachts.
The Boatbookings Team will be attending the show on the lookout for the very best yachts for your next charter, whether throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean or Asia. The 2012 Acico crewed motor yacht NASSIMA, available for charter in the South of France is bound to be popular on Quai Chicane. Graced with contemporary living spaces, spacious decks and a can-do crew, NASSIMA is the quintessential modern day charter yacht.
The Monaco Yacht Show is synonymous with bringing the yachting industry together and there is no better place to bring large groups of people together than on a boat! NASSIMA can respond to your desires and requirements, whether it is a relaxed al-fresco lunch with colleagues or formal dinners on the aft deck. Her elegant, sophisticated and stylish decor will satisfy even the most discerning charter guests, providing the platform for a very memorable time onboard.
September is a busy month in the South of France with the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Monaco Yacht Show and the prestigious Voiles de Cannes and St Tropez. The weather is stunning and the yachts are still in the water, so make the most of the rest of the summer rays!
Heading into its 37th year, the Cannes Boat Show is back under its new name, the ‘Cannes Yachting Festival.’ With over 580 boats on show from 9th September until 14th September, it should be a busy week for all you yachting lovers! The majority will be on display in the Vieux port of Cannes, but don’t miss out on the Port Pierre Canto side where the larger yachts can be found; there is a free shuttle service between the two.
One of the highlights this year will be OCEAN PARADISE – a 55m Benetti sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 elegant cabins. Owner, Singaporean Investor Adrian Lee’s love of contemporary styling is to thank for the stunning interior where the theme is of Zen gardens stylishly mixing with carbon fiber. She offers an extensive range of toys from her original space invaders machines on the bridge deck saloon to the latest sea bobs.
After the Cannes show, head over to Monaco from the 24th until 27th September for the Monaco Yacht Show. The world’s number 1 boat show will be showcasing 115 super yachts from 25m – 100m and around 30 luxury tenders. With an increase in the demand for new builds over 100m, the Monaco Yacht Show, in its 24th year, will be the biggest yet! You will also find an extended exhibition hosting 500 of the world’s most refined suppliers in the industry.
One of the stars of the show will be Eddie Jordan’s incredible Motor Yacht BLUSH. Launched in 2014, this Sunseeker 47m is sure to turn heads. Reportedly costing €25m, no expense has been spared on this beautiful flagship Sunseeker.
She accommodates up to 10 guests in 5 deluxe cabins. Her immense sundeck was created with entertainment in mind, ready to house the best parties on the Riviera with her tremendous dining area and bar. Her sublime interior exudes both style and space, with floor to ceiling glass windows throughout. Her chic dining room is fitted with side patio doors and balconies offering magnificent views of your surroundings

The humble catamaran was originally designed by the natives of Polynesia and Micronesia. Their raft like structure was stable enough to withstand the heavy waves of the South Pacific, which meant that they could successfully sustain their community. In the second half of the 19th Century, the American naval architect Nathanael Herreshoff took inspiration from the natives’ designs to create the twin hulled sailing vessel that we are all so familiar with today. Herreshoff revolutionised yacht design, producing a succession of unbeatable America’s Cup yachts between 1893 and 1920.
Catamarans have come a long way since the 19th century, but their fundamental design remains the same. Fountaine Pajot catamarans are synonymous with innovation, technology and luxury. Nevertheless, the founding fathers have never forgot their passion for sailing, or their desire to produce the very best sailing catamarans possible. The 2015 Saba 50 is no different, illustrated by the superb layout which creates a natural flow aboard the yacht. Lines of communication are clear from the front to the back, ensuring direct contact from the cockpit, the helm station and the lounge deck. The ingenious layout makes everyone feel at ease, providing an heir of conviviality between all charter guests and crew.
The Saba 50 offers magnificent living spaces, which fold out onto the majestic decks. Interior architect, Isabelle Racoupeau, incorporates natural materials with light fixtures and fittings to create a comfortable ambience. Her deck spaces combine trampolines with al fresco dining and sunbathing spaces galore, perfect for the contemporary catamaran charter guest. The brand new catamaran series is available in either a 6 cabin layout or our favoured maestro version, with 3 grand guest cabins and a spacious master owners suite.
The brand new series of Fountaine Pajot catamarans are available at a boat show near you! The next available date to view this fantastic new series is at the 2014 Cannes Boat Show, held between the 9th and 14th September. We will be at the show to view all of the best catamarans, sailboats and motor yachts available for charter. Watch this space for up to date yachting news, show updates and yacht charter exclusives.
Friday at the Cannes Boat Show was another exciting day meeting with our great industry partners and checking out great boats currently on the charter market! The day began being whisked out by tender to visit two sublime luxury motor yachts based on the French and Italian Rivieras, safe to say we were not disappointed. First on the list was VANQUISH, a stunning and extensively refitted Palmer Johnson 120. On approach to this absolutely stunning yacht we noticed how she stood out from all others in the bay of Cannes with her flawless cream hull and distinctive Palmer Johnson lines. On embarkation everything only improved, we were welcomed warmly by the captain who is both enthusiastic about the boat and making sure everyone on it has a great charter experience! The international crew on this boat speak over 6 languages between them, meaning they can accommodate guests of all nationalities. VANQUISH continued to impress with three light, spacious, modern and luxurious double cabins and fully convertible en-suite pullman cabin. As well as this, she has a massive range of water toys including a large twin engined tender, sea doos, water skis, diving equipment, wakeboard, fishing gear, inflatable pool and a whole range of towable toys too! We left this gorgeous boat wondering what was missing… and realised it really does have everything!
Next was the completely different but equally mesmerising ABILITY, an eye-catching monochrome Mangusta 130. We were again warmly welcomed by a fantastic crew and a wonderful range of refreshing drinks before being shown the stunning, luxurious interior of this performance cruiser. The saloon was sexy and exciting with its range of black and white furnishings, heading downstairs the boat becomes warm and woody with a full-beam master cabin and 3 spacious guest cabins. Outside we were shown the huge foredeck, full of flexible outside areas to soak up the sun and enjoy this fantastic boat. The excitement isn’t just on the eyes, this sporty motor yacht has a cruising speed of 28 knots! We’ve only had fantastic responses from charterers onboard ABILITY, her reputation on the French Riviera means berths in the hottest parts of the coast are not a problem. Perfect for the image-conscious getaway!
