Chartering a Yacht in the Italian hotspot of Sicily aboard sailing yacht REE

Sicily is one of the world’s most beautiful and fascinating yacht charter destinations that we offer, thanks to its unique culture, arts, cuisine, architecture and even language. Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, dominated by Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Natural beauty of the Sicilian coastline

Sicily’s volcanic foundations create an amazing variety of terrains, producing some outstanding rock formations that can be most admired from the sea. Due to mild/warm winters and hot/dry summers, a boat charter in Sicily is truly an all year round yachting destination.

The capital of Sicily, Palermo, is a majestic city of both decay and splendour. It has so much to offer, whether that be visiting palaces, castles and churches which offer an architectural fusion of Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Renaissance and Baroque styling. Unlike Florence or Rome, Palermo’s treasures are hidden and waiting to be found and explored. Sicily is notorious for having a mafia-driven past and this is still clear to see today.

Sicily is also home to some of the world’s  most splendid gastronomic experiences. From the blend of Greek, Roman, Arab and Norman invaders, comes a luscious range of local foods, making this region a culinary paradise. Sicily is also renowned for its seafood. Seppia (cuttlefish) is served in its own black sauce with pasta.

Meat dishes are always popular. Many are traditionally made with lamb or goat. Best known outside Sicily is vitello alla marsala (veal marsala), one of many regional meat specialties.

And let’s not forget about desserts! The mouth watering Cannoli  are tubular crusts with creamy ricotta and sugar filling. Frutta di Martorana (or pasta reale) are almond marzipan pastries coloured and shaped to resemble real fruit and of course we could not forget the Sicilian gelato (ice cream)!

Van Dutch 40, ROYAL I oozes elegance, performance and comfort on the French Riviera

The iconic Van Dutch 40 motor yacht is the product of the world famous Dutch design house, Vanguard. Van Dutch’s are striking avant garde creations, incorporating modern design and advanced technology. Vanguard’s aims were quite simple: to “create a lightweight yacht with longevity and economical practicality.” The V-Shaped engine configuration creates a sharpened aft to maximise balance and the Van Dutch’s centre of gravity, optimizing speed whilst reducing fuel consumption. We must pay tribute to Frank Mulder for the design of the Van Dutch, whose underwater design has made spray and slamming a thing of the past.

Reaching speeds of up to 40 knots, the Van Dutch 40 provides excellent performance and cornering. The Yanmar engine reduces engine noise and vibrations, which creates a smooth and silent ride.Screen-Shot-2012-08-24-at-15.26.08 She also incorporates an autopilot and navigation system, making her a very simple luxury yacht to skipper.

Below deck, the Van Dutch is once again unique. There is a hydraulic table for 8 which can transform into a bed. Guests will find the latest televisions, sound systems and kitchen equipment. There is also a  fully functional W/C with a hot and cold water supply. The deck is covered in a teak composite, which makes maintenance very simple. The Van Dutch 40’s cockpit is a modular solarium that extends into a great lounging area.

There are two other models in the Van Dutch portfolio: the 30ft and the 55ft. They both incorporate the exquisite design features of the 40, as well as performance and comfort. We can offer the Van Dutch 40 from a range of prestigious ports on the Riviera, including Monaco, Antibes, Golfe Juan, Cannes and St Tropez. One of our favourite Van Dutch motor yachts is ROYAL I, berthed in Monaco. She is a very popular luxury day charter motor yacht, which charters for €2,250 / Day. POSITANO

Positano is the jewel in the Amalfi Coasts crown, with elegant boutiques, hotels and restaurants. It is the most expensive and photogenic town on the coasts, but still remains humble to its roots, in terms of architecture and artwork. Similarly, Hiring a yacht on the Amalfi Coast is a very popular tourist hotspot with a fascinating history. The city possesses very few historic buildings in comparison, due to a destructive earthquake in 1343, where most of the old city fell into the sea. Ravello, another iconic landmark was a bohemian centre, with the likes of DH Lawrence and Virginia Woolf having been inspired from its natural beauty. The town enjoys glorious views over Amalfi, with great vistas of the rocky cliffs and deep blue waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
