Famous for their beautiful sandy beaches, hospitable people and traditional lifestyle, the Cyclades Islands are probably the most well known in the Aegean Sea. “Cyclades” means circular islands and refers to the islands forming a circle around the sacred island of Delos. According to Greek mythology, Poseidon (God of the sea) was furious with the Cyclades nymphs and turned them into islandsinflatable water slide. With its luminous and serene, crystal blue waters, the Cyclades can best be described as a true paradise. There are 39 islands which make up the breathtaking Cyclades, 24 of which are inhabited. The most well known of these islands are Mykonos, Delos, Santorini, Naxos, Paros, Amorgos, Serifos, Sifnos, Milos and Syros. The small Cyclades include Folegandros, Koufonissi, Schinoussa and Donoussa.

The islands are spread over a 5000 km arc from Sumatra in the Indian Ocean, to the west of the Pacific Ocean. If you visited one island each day on an Indonesia yacht charter, your charter would take 46 years!
