The French call it l’Ile de Beauté (the beautiful island) and although this is an obvious choice of moniker it is also an accurate one. Its geographical position and varied landscape make it an ideal destination to bareboat charter Corsica. Corsica lies alongside the west, Tuscan coast of Italy, 200 km south of mainland France and just above the Italian island of Sardinia. What better playground for a holiday on a bareboat?
Chartering a yacht in Saint-Florent is a superb destination for your summer vacation in the Mediterranean. Saint-Florent is a port town located in the northwest of Corsica. Originally a commercial fishing port, today it is a stunning yachting destination because of it’s architecture and monuments such as the citadel built in 1440.
Along the coast you will see some beautiful ancient towers like the towers of genoese and a bit further you will see some amazing bays with breathtaking long sandy beaches including Saleccia beach, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean sea. There is a beautiful contrast between the Corsican Maquis hills, the sea and the city of Saint-Florent.
If you charter a boat in Saint Florent, you can put it on anchor in the bay or negotiate a berth in the port. There are plenty of excellent local restaurants in the port, we recommend the restaurant in Hotel d’Europe. We also recommend a day trip to the port of Centuri to eat what some people call the best lobster of Corsica. If this is too far for you, you can go to one of the nearby bays and have swim in the beautiful sea, lay down and get a tan in the nice sandy beach or go snorkelling and discover the underwater world of Corsica.

Well, not just any day, last Friday, the 13th April, and the 2nd day of the Antibes Yacht Show. Having been invited to an exclusive ‘Yacht Hop’ event, which involved a four-course meal, each course on a different yacht, I knew from the outset that I was in for a treat.
It kicked off with a champagne reception with appetizers on the sleek Sunseeker, NEW BEGINNINGS OF LONDON, where we were able to admire the elegant decoration of this beautiful charter yacht. Next was starters aboard D5, where we experienced the chef’s delightful gazpacho and cheese biscuits and then it was on to LADY SOFIA for mains, salmon cooked to perfection with asparagus wrapped in parma ham…simply delicious!
fantastic vessel, sporty, sleek and modern with a great minimalistic interior and fabulously spacious cabins. Captain Phil was certainly the life and soul of the party and it’s evident that with his expert mixologist stewardess Melissa, anyone would be
guaranteed endless fun on a charter on this 23m Sunseeker.
Next we continued on into the actual Antibes Yacht Show where hundreds of beautiful yachts were all open to the visitors to explore their interiors and meet their captains and crew. We also had the opportunity to walk around the stalls and talk to businesses from all aspects of the industry. Overall, it was a fascinating experience not only to go on board some stunning yachts, but also to discover all the industries related to yachting too.
