Water Toys for your Luxury Yacht Charter Part I

Water Toys are fast becoming an essential item on your luxury yacht charter. Starting with simple snorkel gear to speeding jetskis, the water toys available to you are becoming more and more exciting.

The Freestyle Cruiser is an amazing slide, custom made to fit the yacht that it is intended for.  The slide is an exhilarating drop down from the top of your yacht – the quickest and easiest way to get from your yacht and in to the water. A Freestyle Cruiser is like having your own on board water park, with plenty of open sea to enjoy it with, and no strangers to get in your way! A yacht slide is fun for everybody, regardless of the age.
Made with the finest materials and craftsmanship; made with the highest grade vinyl for durability the Freestyle Cruiser is welded with state-of-the-art technology. With all the hard work that has gone in to creating this slide, it is without a doubt a brilliant investment for any yacht. A slide of this size and drop will surely guarantee fun. If you are interested in a yacht with a water slide, why not charter AMARULA SUN? This Westport has a great range of water toys, including a slide, perfect for splashing around in the Mediterranean Sea!

The Jet Surf is a combination of a surfboard and technology. A lightweight carbon board that can travel at 55 kilometres per hour, you don’t need waves for this style of surfing.  It took 7 years of development, but was definitely worth it for the end result. Similar to a skateboard, you can do jumps and tricks for up to 4 hours before the battery needs recharging. The Jet Surf is a brilliant invention for whizzing across the water, and has proved to be such a hit that there is now such a thing as the Jet Surf World Series – pushing the Jet Surfs to their limit. With a Jet Surf around, who needs tenders and water skis? They will definitely make a fantastic addition to the water toys on any luxury yacht!

DENIKI – Luxury Super Yacht of the Week

The vast portfolio of Luxury Super Yachts that are available for charter makes the choice of picking a weekly favourite extremely difficult. However, DENIKI is quite stunning in every regard so that is why she is this weeks choice! Currently on show at the 2012 Antigua Yacht Show, DENIKI is a 52.3m Amels Super Yacht, accommodating up to 10 guests in 5 luxurious cabins. She combines both sleek lines and contemporary styling with a bold use of colour, making her extremely striking.

Each of the cabins are decorated with a different colour scheme, and the master suite is decorated with an African theme, which is such a unique feature of the yacht and adds to DENIKI's character. She also has on board a steam room, gym and sauna, decorated beautifully with mosaics. The contemporary art décor is bright and colourful, and shows off the attention to detail in DENIKI's design.

An all-important factor of a charter is of course the food, and DENIKI's chefs Ben and Gareth produce super food throughout the day! When our Managing Director and Charter Director spent a day out on DENIKI, they dined on Kobe beef carpaccio with a truffle dressing and grilled mahi-mahi with sweet peppers. She has 11 crew who will attend to your every need to ensure that you have the best experience possible. Some of her best features are her water toys, including Tenders, Jet Skis, Water Skis, Wakeboards and towable toys – which are bound to keep both the adults and children entertained for hours. She also features a gym with all of the latest cardiovascular equipment and weights.

Deniki master cabinThe reason why she is this weeks favourite is due to her incredible outdoor space. She offers multiple sunbathing areas with large cushions to ensure maximum comfort. There are also beautiful areas to sip cocktails, such as their espresso martinis, whilst watching the sunset and outdoor al fresco dining areas, perfect for sampling the gastronomic treats from the chef.

She is available for charter in the Mediterranean in the summer, and the Caribbean during the winter season. You can also send your charter enquiries to [email protected], and our brokers will be delighted to provide you with more information.

Charter a Luxury Yacht with Amazing Cupcakes!

With our Managing Director, Capucine de Vallée and Charter Director, Mimi Andain at the 2012 Antigua yacht show, inspecting the finest boats in the market, they told us about  LADY ALLIAURA, a Privilege 75 Catamaran which they ranked as one of their top 3 favourite catamarans from Day 1 of the show. They were very complimentary about the food that they were served on board, made by LADY ALLIAURA’s Italian chef; this included home-made bread and cupcakes, and the latter made us start thinking creatively…Boating Baking!

Cupcakes are fast becoming a great power in the culinary world; it makes sense that the luxury yachts are going to start serving them on board. If you’re looking to charter a yacht as part of a celebration, whether a birthday, anniversary or wedding, being able to serve mini celebration cakes on board is fantastic! So, to get the process started,
we have had a look around for nautical and yacht themed baking treats.

So, if you’re looking to charter a luxury yacht with us and want something to get you excited, here is a simple recipe to make cupcakes:

  • 100g caster sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 100g self raising flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C, line a cupcake tray with cases
  2. Cream the caster sugar and butter, until light and fluffy.
  3. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl, then add gradually to sugar and butter, making sure they are mixed in well
  4. Fold in the flour
  5. Divide between the cupcake cases.
  6. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until they are springy to the touch

For the buttercream icing:

  • 250g icing sugar
  • 80g unsalted butter at room temperature
  • 25ml milk
  • A few drops of vanilla essence
  1. Mix together  the icing sugar and butter (carefully!)
  2. Gradually mix in the milk and vanilla essence, here you can add food colouring if you want (preferably blue to match the nautical theme!)
  3. Ice your cakes!

Charter a Luxury Yacht to Paloma Beach, St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

Just east of Nice, the small Paloma Beach is open to everyone; especially if you choose to travel there by yacht! Since 1948, Paloma Beach has shared its stunning views of Beaulieu, Cap d’Ail and the cliffs at Eze with many. Another popular hotspot on the French Riviera, the beach has been visited by the likes of Elton John, Prince Albert of Monaco and Elle Macpherson, which explains why it has become such a stylish stop-off for any jet setter. Paloma Beach is continuously evolving, adapting to suit its clientèle and stay in vogue.

Shaded from the wind, Paloma Beach is a great place to go for lunch during your day charter. You can dine on grilled fish or other local specialities at the beach restaurant, made even better by its picture-perfect location. The water around the beach is also fantastic for water sports, so you can make use of any of the water toys your chosen charter has to offer; even better for working up an appetite before lunch. The beach encourages visitors from the sea; there is a water taxi available if needed, so it is a very welcoming location for anyone who wants to make a stop while cruising the French Riviera.

Open for business from Easter until the end of November, Paloma Beach is a prime location to visit during your summer day charter.

The America’s Cup 2013

In September 2013, the America’s Cup is returning to America for the first time in 18 years. The America’s Cup, the oldest trophy in international sport, will take place in San Francisco from the 7-21st September 2013. The 34th edition of the AC is hosted in the home town of the defending champions, the Golden Gate Yacht Club, making for an even more exciting race! The AC is returning to America with style; this year includes new boats and new rules (and better media coverage for those who aren’t quite lucky enough to be there for the real thing!).

The AC72 rule for the construction of the catamarans leads to a revolutionary design that can travel at extreme speeds and potential danger, as the new foils can cause the hull to lift out of the water; a risk of capsizing! The new classes of boats will be more powerful and therefore even more demanding to the crews on board. The new AC72s are to be used in both the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America’s Cup; this could mean some very exciting races for anyone who is watching!

The 2013 America’s Cup also prioritises bringing racing to the people. The races are to follow near-shore courses, so those that are watching will be able to get even better views. The television and internet coverage shall also be improved, with new graphics for on board footage and microphones, along with exciting commentary on the coverage. It might be more exciting to watch the races from the comfort of your own home than from the shore!

The Five Competing Teams and Their Clubs:

  • Oracle Racing representing the Golden Gate Yacht Club
  • Artemis Racing representing the Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet (Royal Swedish Yacht Club)
  • Emirates Team New Zealand representing the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron
  • Luna Rossa Challenge  representing Circolo Della Vela Sicilia
  • Team Korea representing Sail Korea Yacht Club
