Award-Winning Design and Back on the Charter Market – QUARANTA!

Here at Boatbookings we like to think we have an eye for the most beautifully designed yachts on the charter market, whether they’re weird and wonderful or beautifully traditional. Our favourite interior so far has been on SEALYON, for more information see our blog article. Today we’re focusing on clever and practical, which brings us to the fantastic luxury crewed power catamaran QUARANTA. Built by the Curvelle shipyard in 2013, her exterior lines ooze modernity and a certain futuristic style rarely seen on the sea. She won the Best Catamaran award at The World Superyacht Awards 2014.

From the aft, QUARANTA resembles the classic tri-deck monohull motor yacht style, offering voluminous shaded deck spaces for dining and relaxing. Her flybridge offers all the dining, sunbathing and jacuzzi amenities found on a 50 metre motor yacht. The first difference you notice is her Limousine tender suspended on a hydraulic platform, an excellent idea for keeping dry and dropping smoothly and stylishly into the water. This platform doubles up as a sunbathing “beach club” area as well as providing a “bubbles and waterfalls spa effect” when partially submerged.

As well as all this outside, QUARANTA also has 6 cabins, comfortably accommodating 12 guests. All very standard you might think, but she actually has over 20 possibilities for cabin layouts due to her cabins being convertible from twin, to double and even to triple for kids. All the cabins have large windows, bringing in floods of natural light and making all the spaces feel bright, positive and sociable.

QUARANTA provides all of the above as well as an excellent crew led by Captain Paul Fraser and a vast selection of water toys. She does all this, and manages to provide space of a 40 metre plus yacht in just 34 metres! This clever and efficient design is available this summer in the East Mediterranean with prices ranging from just €125,000 per week to €145,000 per week high season.

Blockbusting Boats! The Best Yachts from Hollywood Films

Yachting has long been considered the pinnacle of decadence, luxury and wealth and Hollywood directors’ perception is no different. Only the most indulgent of characters, be they evil villains, Russian billionaires or eccentric stock brokers are shown on yachts in Hollywood blockbusters. As such, and befitting such characters, some of the world’s most striking and exclusive yachts have featured in cinemas in recent times.

Daniel Craig;Berenice Marlohe

Nobody does cool quite like James Bond. He always drives the coolest cars with the most beautiful women. It is no surprise therefore that he is regularly seen aboard the most stunning of yachts.  It is no surprise therefore that Sunseeker has become as much a part of the James Bond series as Aston Martin and the Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred.

With Daniel Craig as the star, outrageous gadgets and obscene vehicles have been replaced with simple and refined luxury. The villain of Casino Royale, Le Chiffre is introduced to us aboard a stunning Predator 108 while in the Quantum of Solace, General Medrano cruises across the Caribbean Sea aboard a Sunseeker Superhawk 43, a classic example of a chic and elegant Sunseeker.

In Skyfall, Daniel Craig and Berenice Marlohe are seen aboard the beautiful sailing yacht REGINA. This classic sailing yacht, however is not restricted to Hollywood and is available for charter in Turkey.

In Guy Ritchie’s RocknRolla, Russian billionaire Uri Omovich claims that, “There are only 2 days when you enjoy a boat. The day you buy it, and the day you sell it.” The Wolf of Wall Street, Jordan Belfort may well disagree. Leonardo di Caprio and co are featured partying hard and living the rock ‘n roll lifestyle aboard his beautiful 44.8m super yacht, LADY M (Naomi as she’s called in the film).

White Knight, a classic displacement yacht, is a fine example of timeless luxury. Refitted in 2010, 8 years after Matt Damon was shot on her off the coast of Marseille in The Bourne Identity, she is a stunning yacht with a superb fly deck, complete with jacuzzi.

The Nafplion Show 2014 – The opening weekend

The Nafplion Show, organised by the newly funded Greek Yachting Association, started yesterday. Set in the picturesque little town of Nafplion, 1,5hrs drive from  Athens, the show looks like it will be a huge success, as on its inaugural year it has attracted a record number of participants. Over 8o foreign brokers are in attendance, numbers very rarely seen at a Greek yacht show, along with 50 crewed yachts all of a very high standard according to our Charter Director Lambros.

The organisation is excellent – Lambros says that in his experience, the only show that can match Nafplion in terms of organised activities for brokers is Antigua, famed for lavish dinners and the most enticing activities.

NAFPLION

The starting ceremony took place yesterday night in the medieval castle overlooking the port of Poros, we’ll keep you up to date with our favourites in the show. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for more information on the Nafplion Show or chartering in Greece.

Booming! The MYBA Charter Show 2014 Closes with the Yachting Industry Bigger than Ever

The yachting industry is booming. The MYBA Charter Show 2014 in Genoa, showcasing the most impressive yachts on the charter market, has been nothing short of amazing. Not only are yachts becoming  more exciting with indulgent interiors, striking finishes and ever more outrageous water toys, the range of charter destinations is increasing very quickly with captains keen to discover the undiscovered and offer something new and exotic to their guests. LA DEA II’s captain, Mark Hoskins is a key exponent of this new age of exploration as he prepared his stunning 161 foot Trinity for an expedition to circumnavigate the world.

LA DEA II is three decks of utter splendour. Providing the benchmark is luxury yachting, she features all that you could desire in a charter. Her salon, complete with grand piano is simply marvellous whilst the bathrooms, lined with rich mahogany and marble are indicative of true decadence.

The huge swim platform is a great place to spend lazy afternoons right by the water while the flybridge is a real highlight. Whether you’re soaking up the sun on one of the massive sun pads, lying back with a book or sipping on champagne in the jacuzzi, you will feel like you’ve arrived at the pinnacle of luxury.

While LA DEA II is off discovering new and exciting destinations, luxury yachting in Greece continues to hit new heights. Chartering in unknown regions of the South Pacific is undoubtedly an exciting new development but there remains a lot to be said for cruising around the stunning Cyclades and indulging yourself in Santorini.

New legislation has decreed that non-EU registered yachts no longer need a license to charter in Greece meaning that the selection of charter yachts in Greece is bigger than ever. In addition to that the 10% luxury tax previously imposed on pleasure yachts has been abolished, leaving only the 6.5% VAT on week long charters in the Aegean.

News and Reviews at The Palma Superyacht Show 2014!

From one yacht show to another this week… today sees the beginning of the Superyacht show in Palma, Mallorca. A brokerage and charter show, there’s several well-known charter boats on display with some old favourites and some new to the charter market in Spain. This is only the second edition of the superyacht show, and it has returned following the success of the Palma Superyacht Brokerage and Charter Show in May 2013. This show will continue to only exhibit yachts of an impressive 24 metres and above.

First up is a new addition to the charter market in Spain, POWDERMONKEY. Our team on the French Riviera were gutted to see her leave her prime position in Antibes last year, having received a Spanish charter license, heading to Palma for the upcoming season. This luxury crewed motor yacht offers unrivalled value for money, accommodating up to 10 guests at a very competitive €49,000 per week high season. She’s a fun family boat with spacious cabins, classic interior, fun splashes of colour throughout and an extensive water sports inventory. POWDERMONKEY has had multiple technical and visual upgrades meaning she’s in pristine condition ready for this summer.

BenitaBlueBenitaBlue1

Next up is BENITA BLUE from Evolution Yachts in Australia. She combines the weird and wonderful to create extensive space of a much larger yacht. Her sleek, outlandish and bright exterior colouring is contrasted by the quiet cool of her neutral interior. Whilst the owners of BENITA BLUE are keen to move on before the summer season arrives, we’re confident she’ll be back on the charter market in time for high season in the Mediterranean. Again she’s a perfect family boat with two doubles, two twins and a convertible office for an extra two berths.

For more information on chartering either of these two fantastic yachts, to meet us at the Palma show or for luxury yacht charters in the Mediterranean contact us today!
