Luxury Yacht Charters at the Antigua Yacht Show 2012

The prestigious Antigua Yacht Show 2012 commences this Sunday at the Nelson’s Dockyard Marina in English Harbour, the Falmouth Harbour Marina and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina. This charter yacht show presents 98 vessels on show ranging from crewed sailboats and catamarans to super yachts, making this show the ideal opportunity for brokers to take a look at the very latest luxury yachts available for the upcoming charter season in the Caribbean. The show grew in popularity with the increase in  tourism, as Antigua became an accessible destination, which prides itself on its hospitality, the friendliness of the locals and the fact that part of the island has dedicated itself to the servicing of the yachting industry.

Past shows have proven successful, yet we believe the Antigua Boat Show 2012 is about to exceed all previous shows. Firstly, the yachts on show this year are the best that we have seen, with the latest Sunreef Crewed and Power Catamarans, prestigious Nautors Swan monohulls and luxury CRN super yachts. Attendee’s will also be able to see the worlds largest catamaran HEMISPHERE on show this year, which is definitely worth a visit after our great review of her at the Monaco Yacht Show 2011.

One of the boats that we are most looking forward to see is the luxury sailing yacht REE, a 115 Valdettaro, with accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 sumptuous cabins. She epitomises the style, elegance and quality of all of the yachts on show at the Antigua Boat Show. She offers all of the luxuries that you would expect to find on a 40m Motor Yacht after her $2.5m refit in 2011. Available for charter in the Caribbean in the winter, you should definitely make the most of her water toys and great can-do crew.

Alternatively, one of our favourite crewed luxury super yachts on show at this years show is SHERAKHAN. This Ververk 228 epitomises luxury and is the perfect yacht to entertain a large number of friends and family, with accommodation for up to 26 guests in 13 cabins. Each suite is extremely spacious, measuring from 30m up to 50m squared. She features a BBQ, Jacuzzi, Jetski’s and enough water toys to keep everyone entertained for hours. Available for charters in the Caribbean at Christmas and West Mediterranean in the Summer, SHERAKHAN is the perfect yacht for those who want to push the boat out!

Rolex Watches U.S.A Extends Support for US Sailing

On the 26th November 2012, in Portsmouth, Rhode Island (a great place to charter a yacht!), US Sailing and Rolex Watch USA announced that the prestigious brand of watches would maintain it’s support of the sailing’s national governing body. At the same time as maintaining it’s position of being the US Sailing’s official timepiece and title sponsor of the US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtspeople of the Year Awards, on Monday, Rolex explained it would increase support by becoming a patron of US Sailing’s Afterguard and Medalist programs.

The Afterguard is US Sailing’s highest level donor program, with a mission of leadership, integrity and advancement for the sport of sailing in the United States.  Afterguard donations fund restricted projects of mutual interest between donor and the organization as well as unrestricted gifts to support operations.  The Medalist Program supports the Olympic Sailing Program whose mission is providing a path to Olympic and Paralympic pre-eminence for the sailors of the United States.

Rolex has long viewed US Sailing’s role as critical to the development of the sport in the U.S.A., and this new era in the relationship not only builds on the partnership that the two organizations have forged over three decades, but also continues the encouragement and promotion of excellence while highlighting the rich traditions of sport.

“We are honored that Rolex is our longest standing partner, supporting US Sailing for over 30 years,” said US Sailing Executive Director Jack Gierhart.  “Our friends at Rolex have been, and continue to be, instrumental in the development of sailing in the U.S.  While times change and strategies evolve, Rolex’s commitment to the sport and our organization has only strengthened over time.  We are grateful for that as we work to promote excellence, integrity, and opportunity in sailing.”

Luxury Yacht Charter in Miami and the Florida Keys

Florida offers a superb array of charter yachts to meet all of your needs, from luxury motor yachts and yachts specializing in deep-sea fishing to event yachts for corporate entertainment. In particular, the fantastic beaches of Miami and the coral reefs found off Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys are extremely popular with charter guests.

Miami:

Known for its miles of sandy beaches, which are perfect for soaking up the sun, Miami is one of the biggest tourist destinations in the world. Miami is also an easy starting point for charters that are headed through the Florida Keys and towards the Bahamas.

South Beach provides arguably the best example of the Miami experience. South Beach (nicknamed SoBe) is renowned for the fantastic beaches, nightclubs, restaurants and boutique hotels that line Ocean Drive. It is the place to be seen and the place to do people spotting. The Art Deco District hosts many popular events including the Sony Ericsson Masters Tennis, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival and Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Bill Baggs State Park, which is found on the southern end of Key Biscayne, is definitely worth a visit. The park provides the perfect area for sunbathing and swimming, and is home to the famous Cape Florida lighthouse. Built in 1825, the lighthouse is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County. If you aren’t in the mood for swimming, sunbathing, exploring historical sites, shopping or people-watching, you could always play a round of golf at the Miami Beach Golf Club.

Florida Keys:

The Florida Keys is an island archipelago beginning about 15 miles south of Miami. Formed by exposed portions of an ancient coral reef, the Keys extend from the southern tip of Florida toward the Gulf of Mexico. They are famed for their stunning coral reefs which make them one of the most biodiverse areas in the world.

The area is part of the Florida Reef, the third largest coral barrier reef system in the world after the Great Barrier Reef and Belize Barrier Reef, and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Biscayne National Park, which preserves Biscayne Bay and its offshore barrier reefs, includes Elliott Key and provides some of the best scuba diving areas in the United States. Elliott Key and the nearby Key Largo (two of the northernmost keys) offer crystal clear waters, fantastic for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Boca Chica (one of the southernmost islands) is also a fantastic point for scuba diving. Here you will find the remains of a a Second World War US Army supply ship called the Almirante, which is now home to a vast collection of tropical fish. Other popular tourist attractions in the keys include swimming with dolphins, sport fishing, and a variety of other water sports.

The city of Key West, which is the southernmost city in the continental United States, is home to 32% of the entire population of the Keys. The majority of tourists visit this city for the stunning beaches such as Smathers Beach, which is lined with coconut trees. Key West also boasts an Art & History Museum, the Audubon Tropical Gardens, and the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum, which was designated as a US National Historic Landmark in 1968.

One of our favorite yachts available for charter in Florida is BIONDA, a Numarine 78 with accommodation for 9 guests. BIONDA is perfect for charters with family or friends. She has a good collection of tenders and toys that includes scuba-diving equipment, snorkeling equipment and fishing gear.

The Best Super Yacht in New Zealand and the South Pacific!

New Zealand and the South Pacific are two of the most beautiful parts of the world, with striking geographical features, crystal blue waters and bounteous sunshine. It was no surprise when the casting crew of The Lord of the Rings chose New Zealand to film one of the most successful trilogies in history there. Home to some of the worlds best lamb, rugby and white wine, New Zealand is waiting to be explored and will certainly not disappoint.

One of the best ways to experience New Zealand and to travel around the South Pacific is by motor yacht and we would highly recommend VVS1, a 34m Luxury Alloy Yacht.  She is often described as the diamond of the South Pacific and has won many awards, including the best motor yacht sub 40m at the World Super Yacht Awards in Venice 2008 and three awards at the World Yacht Trophies 2013. Her interior and general design is second to none and features sleek lines, elegance and the very latest equipment and technology. For example, she features a Tepinyaki bar which would be ideal for holding a fun dinner party.

She charters in both New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and we would definitely recommend her in both places. If you are looking for a specific place to charter, we would recommend chartering her during the summer in Fiji to visit both Suva and Nadi. If you would like more information on VVS1 or how to charter her, please enquire through our website or send an email to [email protected]. We would be delighted to help you organise an experience of a lifetime in one on the worlds most beautiful areas.
