Ionian Islands Crewed Motor Yacht Itinerary

Ionian Islands Crewed Yacht Charter Itinerary - Discover Corfu, Kefalonia and Zakynthos on your Luxury Yacht Charter

This is an unforgettable itinerary in the Ionians for your crewed motor yacht charter; it offers a lovely mixture of breathtaking sceneries, turquoise waters and beautiful little towns. Above all, the Ionian Sea is almost always calm during July and August when the Meltemi winds torment the Cyclades Islands. A typical 7 day itinerary of the Ionians involves quite a lot of mileage, so a motor yacht is a superb option for fast island hopping to see every inch of this wonderful destination. The Ionian islands are unique and heavily influenced by Italy, they have a distinct architectural character. Moreover, they are greener, with plush vegetation reaching until the shore and offer a myriad of small, protected bays and islets.

Day 1: Kefalonia

kefalonia - ionian islands crewed motor yacht itinerary

Kefalonia lies almost in the middle of the Ionians and is not only the largest island but one of the most beautiful making it the perfect place to start. Enjoy swimming in the translucent waters of Assos bay and then head for Fiscardo, a little fishing village in the North part of Kefalonia for a flavorsome dinner in Tassia’s Restaurant, renowned throughout the Ionians for exquisite dining.

A berth in Fiscardo port with its beautiful Venetian architecture, the village waterfront plays host to whitewashed shops, balconies decorated with bright flowers, coffee places to enjoy a Greek frappe (local frappuccino), and fishing boats. There are many secret coves surrounding the island - be sure to ask the captain for a detour so that you can dive in with your snorkel and mask to explore!

Day 2: Paxoi – Antipaxoi

Two small islands right between Lefkas and Corfu, Paxoi and Antipaxoi are the ultimate yachting paradise! Visit the famous blue caves in Paxoi and swim in the white-gold beaches in Antipaxoi, before heading for the port of Gaios in Paxoi: a unique little fjord-like anchorage that is definitely worth visiting.

Look to explore the many sea caves, hauntingly beautiful beaches and shipwrecks on the south coast of Paxos or soak up the traditional Greek atmosphere in the harbour towns of Gaios, Lakka or Loggos on the east coast. When you step ashore, the Venetian fortress of Agios Nikolaos and the English Governor's house are not to be missed.

Day 3: Corfu

Corfu is the undisputable queen of the Ionian islands; the old town is magnificent with her long history and plethora of monuments. Ask your captain to secure a berth in the old port and take a night stroll in Liston Square, named because only noble families (listed in the Libro d’ Oro) could own properties there.

Kassiópi, in the north of the island, is brimming with original charm. The Byzantine castle up on the hillside is well worth a visit. The town is best known for having the best beaches on the island.

Day 4: Parga

A little gem, situated in mainland Greece, across Corfu, Parga vaguely reminds us of Southern Italy with the multi-coloured houses perched on a hill overlooking the sea.

Wander inland for air full of the scents of olive oil, citrus trees and sea breeze where the colourful town is sure to enchant you. Fish taverna and waterside bars offer the perfect place to spend your evening in the lively Greek style.

Day 5: Meganisi

Spend a quiet day swimming in the emerald waters around this little island and maybe enjoy a barbecue organised by your crew by the beach; the perfect way to relax after Corfu and Parga!

This is the perfect place to dig out the water toys and have a float on the crystal clear waters; you could even use the snorkeling equipment to explore the colourful sealife. Visit Limonari beach for ultimate seclusion and tranquility while you enjoy this beautiful little island.

Day 6: Ithaki

Famous for being the island of Odysseus, Ithaki (Ithaca) is another hidden gem in the Ionian and has long been attracting boaters with her dandelion coasts, emerald waters and lively little towns.

All around the harbour there are beautiful houses which survived the earthquake of 1953, preserving most of its history and charm. In the evening, make a visit to the restaurant of Yefuri for a unique dining experience amond the pine trees with fabulous international dishes.

Day 7: Zakynthos

We kept the most beautiful place for last: make sure to be early in the famous Navagio bay, so as to enjoy it before the flocks of tourist boats arrive! After feasting your eyes to this beauty, head for the town of Zakynthos.

Day 8: Disembark

After spending the morning exploring Zakynthos town and doing some last minute shopping, head for the airport for your flight home. The memories of your Ionian cruise will stay imprinted until your next visit to the islands. The best thing is that there are so many places left unseen, that you can return to Ionians several times until you have seen them all!
