DEFIANCE, your ideal Luxury Charter Yacht around Miami and the Bahamas!

Thursday 14th February marked a very special day. Not only was it Valentines Day, but it was in fact the opening day of this years Miami International Boat Show. Spread over 4 venues, this years show brought together the latest marine technology, insurance and clothing, as well as some of the leading luxury yachts from prestigious marks such as Benetti, Riva, Sunseeker and Overmarine. Our Charter Director, Mimi Andain recommended that we should go visit DEFIANCE, a luxurious Mangusta 72, which combines stunning aesthetics with exhilarating speed and comfort.

We were very impressed by this 2007 model, which has just undergone a refit in 2012. She has a very fond owner and this is apparent from the detail throughout. The use of soft wood and light fixtures and fittings make this feel extremely spacious for a 72 foot yacht. The decks on board DEFIANCE offer ample space for at least 3 guests on her bow and 2 on the aft deck to enjoy the glorious weather of Miami and the Bahamas. With the Sunshine state having so many fantastic places to visit, how do you decide which ones to head to? We have put together a four day sample itinerary for Miami, which will show the city at its best!

Discovering the Beauty of Sardinia on your Luxury Yacht Charter! – Part 3 – The Port of Alghero and the Neptune Caves.

If you are chartering along the west coast of Sardinia, the Port town of Alghero and the Neptune caves are a must see. Alghero contains a myriad of different attractions from the cluster of spectacular historical buildings such as the Church of St. Francis (1360), the Torre del Portal and the Alghero Cathedral to the fantastic variety of
Mediterranean cuisine you will find in the old quarter. Why not stop here for lunch and stroll along the town walls that provide some wonderful views towards the cliffs of Capo Caccia before boarding your yacht and heading to the Neptune caves?

ICARUS – a Jongert 27m would be fantastic for this charter. Accommodating up to 6 guests, her sleek design  and luxurious interior will make your charter a real treat.  ICARUS also has a wide variety of water toys and extra features to make your charter even more fun such as a low swimming platform, snorkeling equipment, water skis, a wake board and even fishing equipment.

Enjoy a Luxury Day Charter Around Ibiza!

Ibiza is without a doubt one of the best known holiday destinations! But there’s more to Ibiza than just the nightclubbing – the island offers plenty of natural beauty and culture, along with over 50 fantastic beaches! So, if you’re planning to visit Ibiza this year, why not spend a day of your vacation out at sea? Here is the itinerary for a typical day charter from Ibiza.

Starting in Ibiza town, either Marina Ibiza, Ibiza Magna or Marina Botafoch, you can cruise along the beautiful coastline of the island, enjoying stunning landscapes, clear turquoise waters and small caves along the coast to explore. You will see the silhouette of the castle of the old town, Dalt Vila as you start your charter for the day, before heading past the famous beaches of Ibiza, Playa d’en Bossa, Es Cavallet and las Salinas. Stop off at Playa de ses Illetes in Formentera, where you can swim, sunbathe or just wander around to your heart’s content!

Pay a visit to the natural harbour of La Savina, Formentera Port, one of the main gateways to the island, before settling down to enjoy some lunch. We would highly recommend Juan Y Andrea, Tanga or Molí de Salt for a choice of restaurants, where you can enjoy amazing meat or fish dishes, including the paella which Spain is so famous for. You can relax and eat on the sandy beaches, and indulge in a short siesta after lunch; when in Spain do as the Spaniards do!

If you’re really looking to indulge, try out the natural mud baths in Spalmador, which you will find at the far end of s’Alga beach; this 40,000 sq metre wide salt plain, with liquid mud right in the centre – a perfect substitute for a spa! Towards the end of your charter, head to Salinas – here you can dance to music from the very best international DJs, and enjoy a drink or two with your friends. To finish the day off, visit Es Vedra, to watch the sun go down over the sea, before returning to port.

So, if you are interested in exploring Ibiza by yacht, one of our favourites is JAX OF IBIZA, a Sunseeker Predator 92 Sport. This sleek build from Sunseeker features a flybridge, offering even more space for you to sit back in the sun. With a walnut finish and cream furnishings, the interior oozes elegance, you may struggle to decide whether you want to spend time inside or out! Accommodating up to
8 guests in 4 cabins, JAX OF IBIZA is available to charter from €6,800 per day.

Discovering the Beauty of Sardinia on your Luxury Yacht Charter! – Part 2 – La Maddalena

La Maddalena Archipelago is one of the most spectacular highlights of Sardinia. Consisting of 62 islands and islets with 180 km of coast and covering a surface area of 5,134 hectares it provides a plethora of inlets and coves to explore on your charter. Every single island is enclosed in a cocoon of national marine conservation extending 300 – 500 meters into the ocean and makes up the national park of the archipelago, La Maddalena. This insures that La Maddalena is one of the most unique places in the Mediterranean and will continue to be so.

Why not stop off at the island, La Maddalena, the only one inhabited in this Archipelago, and dine on its fantastic Mediterranean cuisine at Locanda del Mirto? Then you could sail across to the island of Caprera where Giuseppe Garibaldi spent the last years of his life and visit his house and tomb. The lack of people you will see on your trip around this Island chain only serves to make the charter all the more special.

Budelli Island is also a must see on your charter and is just one of many examples of this areas natural beauty! The striking cliffs on Razzoli Island that supposedly resemble Henry Moore’s sculptures and La Spiaggia Rosa, more commonly known as the Pink Beach both epitomize La Maddalena National Park.

If you are interested in chartering in Sardinia why not charter CARLA – a Lagoon 400, accommodating up to 11 guests in 4 cabins, its low draft and large amounts of space make this Catamaran a perfect platform for visiting those secluded coves and sandy bays. The Ultimate Water Toy – A Water Powered Jet Pack that Allows You to Fly!

Have you ever dreamed that you could fly ? Well now you can with this new water powered jet pack.  Your flight begins as a 200-HorsePower marine engine pumps water up a 33-foot hose at over 1,000 gallons-per-minute, generating over 420 pounds of thrust. When the water reaches the ultra-light backpack, it’s directed through two nozzles at up to 60 pounds-per-square-inch and you’re airborne!

Aiming the nozzles creates smooth, stable turns. And the motorcycle-style throttle lets you climb, dive and hover up to 30 feet above the surface. The  safety harness and trapeze keep you in optimal flying position, while the fuel-efficient motor gives you hours of flight on a single tank of high-octane gasoline.

This water toy includes a jet pack made out of carbon fiber and is attached to a small boat (3 meters long) that sucks the water in, sends it through a big hose that brings the water up to the jet pack.

Given the “arms race” we see on super yachts competing for the coolest water toys, many will start adding the jet pack for the upcoming charter season!
