The British Virgin Islands’ secluded bays and tranquil waters are the perfect host for water sports like diving, E-foiling, and waterskiing. With sheltered coves and steady trade winds, you can paddle along the shores of Jost Van Dyke before stopping for a painkiller cocktail, or snorkel at The Indians for a chance to encounter age-old corals and playful fish. At Boatbookings, we are always seeking more ways to explore the water, whether on a crewed catamaran, crewed power catamaran, or crewed motor yacht. Over 20 years of sailing the BVI have led us to this list of the must-do water sports for beginners, experts, and everyone in between.
Paddle Board Yoga - TRANQUILITY

Virgin Gorda provides a multitude of scenic settings near which you could take up Paddle Board Yoga, probably the healthiest watersport available. Whether you want to practice your tree pose or learn a new stretch this is a great water sport for beginners. The Bitter End Yacht Club is one of the most prestigious pit stops in the world, while the geological formation of The Baths is the perfect backdrop to your downward dog. The soothing rock of the waves might just be your calling, providing you with relaxation, entertainment, and a fitness kick. The crew on our luxury crewed catamaran, TRANQUILITY are excellent for rustling up a healthy dish to complement your workout.
Kayaking - SAPPHIRE

For a day defined by an unhurried pace and slow drifting along shallow shores, there is no better activity than kayaking. Lean back into a single or double kayak and leisurely paddle around Privateers Bay, keeping an eye out for schools of fish swimming by. Captain Rob and Chef Belinda are thrilled to welcome you aboard SAPPHIRE and guide you through the paradise they call home. With their local knowledge of the region, you will be kayaking in a secluded cove by the end of the day to catch the sunset over Jost Van Dyke.Â
Tubing - SIP SIP

Many of our top yachts come with a state-of-the-art tender, perfect for tubing! Calm bays like Great Harbour make amazing spots for this family-friendly water sport. Hold on to the handles of your tube as your captain swings you over the wake of the tender; you might even catch some air, so be sure to hold on tight! Water adventures on SIP SIP will allow you to explore the BVI like never before. Captain Harry and Chef Martha are excited to welcome you on board and take you on a tubing adventure around secluded coves like Benures Bay.Â
Wakeboarding - AURAÂ

Feel yourself fly across the water on a wakeboard as you are pulled effortlessly behind a tender. This easy-to-learn water sport lets you skim across the sea with no waves needed, and most first-timers are up and riding within minutes. As you become more comfortable, you can use the wake as a ramp to jump and perform tricks. Wave to passers-by as you glide across a protected bay, then ease into a playful jump, ending with a satisfying splash and stick the landing. Captain Francois and Chef Katie have been in the industry for 9 years and are passionate about creating unforgettable experiences for guests.
Water Skiing - RELENTLESS 60

Carve across the waters of White Bay on a pair of water skis. This classic water sport is easy to learn and effortlessly fun. With wide, stable skis and a steady tender to pull you gently across the water, you will be up and skiing in no time. The opulent Sunreef 60 crewed catamaran, RELENTLESS 60, is the perfect host for water skiing in the BVI. Captain Derek and Chef Viera will cater to your every need and are incredible instructors for first-time skiers!Â
Kitesurfing and Windsurfing - ISLAND KISSES

Harness the winds yourself on a kiteboard or windboard. Instead of using a tender or motorized boat to pull you across the water, a kiteboard and windboard use the natural winds to their advantage. Allow the kite or small sail to pull you across the Manchioneel Bay for an afternoon or evening of these fun, beginner-friendly water sports. This is a fantastic opportunity to catch some photos as you speed across the water with the sun setting behind you. Captain Stewart is delighted to take you on a kitesurfing or windsurfing adventure around a calm bay, so you can practice all day. After you have explored the bay, step back on board for an incredible meal made specially for you by Chef Reeve.Â
E-Foiling - ENDLESS HORIZONÂ

Rising in popularity, the E-foil allows you to skim across the water without a sail or motor. Hop on an E-foil straight from your luxury crewed catamaran or crewed motor yacht and seamlessly bob across the glassy bay with nothing but the sound of the breeze and your favorite playlist echoing from your yacht’s Bluetooth system. Your dynamic crew aboard ENDLESS HORIZON is equipped with deep knowledge of the region and will take you to the best spot on Norman Island to try the ship's E-foil! Spend the day on the water, then come back for some of Chef Ulrika's homemade ice cream!Â
Seabobbing – MAVERICK

The Seabob allows you to explore the underwater depths of the BVI or scoot along the surface at exhilarating speeds. The scenery of the BVI’s crystal blue waters, luscious green foliage, and pristine white beaches will merge as you skim by the coastline of Peter Island and its famous Deadman's Bay. Because you can stay above the water or dive deeper to explore underneath the surface, this is the perfect family-friendly water sport. MAVERICK, a stunningly beautiful catamaran, is the ideal yacht for trying out this high-octane water sport. With plenty of other toys on board, too, Maverick is a fantastic option for enjoying the BVI with friends and family.Â
Scuba Diving – JUSTIFIED HORIZONS

If you’re a first-time diver, seeking a refresher course, or looking to take your whole family into the Caribbean waters, then a spot of beginner's diving is a great place to start. There are fascinating areas around Salt Island, like the Wreck of the Rhone, where all ages can take the plunge and explore the marine life beneath your luxury yacht, and JUSTIFIED HORIZONS could be just the catamaran for you. With space for up to 10 guests, your whole family can come aboard, and PADI diving instructor Captain Michael will teach you all the tricks of the scuba trade and what each area has to offer.
Advanced Scuba Diving – NENNE

For those who want to take their dive to the next underwater level, there are endless opportunities awaiting you in the Caribbean playground of the BVI. If you’ve already conquered the Wreck of the Rhone, then you’ll need to find some brand new sites. With both the captain and chef being certified divers on board NENNE, they’ll be glad to show you the BVI's diving hotspots, such as the submarine canyons and arches of the Dog Islands or Blonde Rock, an incredible sixty-foot volcanic remnant.
Deep Sea Fishing - KORU
Let your crew take care of all the gear and technique so you can simply experience the thrill of deep-sea fishing. Take your yacht’s private tender out to the most productive fishing grounds in the BVI. Your crew’s intimate knowledge of the region will ensure you cast your reel in a peaceful bay and come back to the boat with your fresh catch! Captain Benjamin and Chef Juan are a dedicated team who share a passion for sailing and travel. Together, they will share their most helpful fishing tips and take you to the prime spot for a successful catch.Â
Hiking - A3

There are many rewarding hikes in the BVI, and they all provide a journey through extraordinary Caribbean flora and fauna, resulting in awe-inspiring views of the surrounding environment. Mount Sage of Tortola is the highest peak in the BVI, while Virgin Gorda’s National Park takes you to a viewpoint thriving with lizards, rare flowers, and songbirds. A3 is a stylish and contemporary yacht, crewed by William and Kim, who adore the local walks and hikes. They will be happy to show you their favourite routes.Â
