It’s the 60th anniversary of the prestigious London Boat Show, but 75 was the number that everyone was talking about today. The all new Sunseeker 75 was the star of the show. With sprawling decks, sleek lines and new technology this yacht creates a sociable and light space for all to relax, entertain or unwind in a beautiful secluded bay.

Sunseeker75And how better to celebrate this iconic British design than with a British icon? James Corden, king of comedy and Gavin & Stacy star was on hand to welcome guests and open the Sunseeker stand with this beautiful new luxury yacht. Corden said he was “thrilled” to be given the opportunity to open Sunseeker’s stand at the London Boat Show.

A Fusion of Fine Art and World Class Yachting On The River Thames

Part of the 2013 London Boat Show included the UK Star Championships; a race for Olympic class Star keelboats. These sailboats were recently seen at the 2012 London Olympic Games, and were on the waters of the Royal Victoria Docks on the 18th January, ready to race with a difference. The recent arrival of snow in London meant that they were off to a chilly start, and the Olympians and World Champion sailors set out to brave the cold weather. These famous sailors included the likes of Iain Percy, Andrew Simpson and Michael McIntyre.

The difference with these Star boats was their appearance.
This was a Fine Art Sails regatta, a new means to showcase art. The main sail

of each boat was a canvas for some of the best international modern artists, including EINE (a favourite of Samantha Cameron, Prime Minister David Cameron’s wife), Jaime Gili and INSA. With sails catching in the winds, the artwork constantly moves and changes appearance throughout the race. The regatta was won by French sailor Xavier Rohart and Serge Pulfer of Switzerland, the only non-British pair in the race. Not all the art was on the water though; Ben Ainslie also donated his Finn class sail to Fine Art Sails, to be displayed in the main exhibition hall.

London Boat Show 2013 Review, Part II

Following on from our first report from this years London Boat Show, Part II aims to round up the rest of the exhibition in terms of exciting new releases and charter destinations. We have already spoken very highly of the Predator 68 and San Remo Sunseeker models, but it would be incorrect to say that these were the only two yachts worth seeing.

There is always a lot of hype around the release of a luxury Italian product, in particular when it is from the exclusive Ferretti Group and Riva. The Iseo is designed as a ‘runabout’ and is the perfect vessel for those who love to cruise on lakes in style. Norberto Ferretti, chairman of the group states, “After the wooden classics like the Ariston and the Florida, which made the history of our shipyard in the smaller yacht range, Riva today has introduced another small yacht that encompasses the values that have made Riva the legend it is today: meticulous craftsmanship, uniqueness, elegance and painstaking attention to detail.” Are you looking to charter a classic Riva? Look no further than the beautiful Aquarama on Lake Garda, accommodating up to 7 guests for a luxury cruise. She has a great captain, who is very insightful, professional and hospitable, ensuring you have the very best day out possible.

We met up with one of our closest suppliers at the show, who are based around Bodrum and specialise in bareboat and skippered monohull and catamaran charters. Have you never been to this region before? Please see the following link to our sample 7 day itinerary for inspiration on your holiday. London Boat Show 2013 Review, Part I

We have just returned from this years London Boat Show, which showcased once again some of the latest yachts from Riva, Sunseeker, Fairline and Princess, as well as yachting gadgets, ribs, clothing and a fleet of the fastest supercars. We were extremely excited about seeing the new Sunseeker Predator 68 motor yacht, which certainly did not disappoint. Compared to the previous model, the 68 has improved on every level. The entertaining spaces are second to none, in particular an incredible aft deck, featuring some of the best sunbathing spaces that we've seen. Accommodation is provided in 3 cabins, including a master and a double VIP, which are designed in typical Sunseeker style. Sophistication and luxury are two words that go hand in hand with this yacht.

The brand new San Remo edition was also on show and was a truly remarkable yacht for its size. The large windows on the main deck and panoramic roof provided light throughout the whole yacht. Once again the decks were perfect for sunbathing with close family, as well as providing al fresco dining and great comfort. This yacht would not look out of place in even the most prestigious ports in the world so we expect great things from this yacht.

It was also great to see some Sunseeker classics on show, which showcased how the company has evolved in the past 30 years. We particularly liked the Mustang 20, which featured seating for 5 with great performance and style. The Mustang 20 could hit speeds of up to 50 knots from its Volvo V8 engine which is quite impressive from a yacht of its time.

New Releases at the London Boat Show 2013!

The London Boat Show 2013 is set to commence on Saturday 12th January at the ExCel Arena, London and is a great show to start the new season. The show does not only showcase some of the latest yacht releases from Prestige, Fairline and Sunseeker, but the very best yachting equipment and gadgets, as well as seminars from marine experts. With tickets priced from £10 and just £20 for a Champagne VIP ticket, the show is very well priced, especially when kids go free with a paying adult.

Two of the most exciting new releases come from the British manufacturer Sunseeker with the Predator 68 and San Remo motor yachts. The Predator 68 brings together all of the qualities from the previous model with its sleek lines, performance and comfort for 6 guests and 2 crew. Light has been maximised through the deck saloon, creating a superb lounge and all-weather dining area. Sunbathing fanatics will not be disappointed with great spaces to the aft and bow decks, as well as a hydraulic swim platform, making this yacht suitable to those who struggle with mobility. Top speeds are likely to be around 33 knots, with a cruising speed of 24 knots and a range of 300 nautical miles.

The San Remo luxury motor yacht from Sunseeker is a great all rounder, combining all of the qualities of a day charter yacht with the space and elegance required for those longer charters. Expect to see typical Sunseeker styling with sweeping lines,  a classic or contemporary interior and great build quality. At 52 ft in length, this Sunseeker sport cruiser is said to be a joy for both driver and passanger and we predict this will be one of the most popular motor boats in its category.
