Who is Chartering a Yacht at this Year’s Cannes Film Festival?

With the 65^th Cannes Film Festival 2012 in full swing, the Old Port of Cannes is buzzing round the clock, packed with the crowd that Cannes attracts annually for this prestigious event. From eager tourists, trying to get a glimpse of their favourite celebrities, to up-and-coming film companies discovering the industry, and of course, the high-flyers enjoying life on some beautiful yachts, basking in the Mediterranean sunshine.

This year Mariln Monroe is the icon for the 65^th Cannes Film Festival which is also paying homage to the 50^th anniversary of the actress’ death.

With Sundays Monaco Grand Prix commencing tomorrow we find Mark Webber at pole position although Mercedes Michael Schumacher was fastest qualifier 14.301 secs. Only tomorrow will tell if the Redbull team will be able to pull it off.

A day in the life of an intern in the Yachting Industry – Antibes Boat Show 2012

Well, not just any day, last Friday, the 13th April, and the 2nd day of the Antibes Yacht Show. Having been invited to an exclusive ‘Yacht Hop’ event, which involved a four-course meal, each course on a different yacht, I knew from the outset that I was in for a treat.

It kicked off with a champagne reception with appetizers on the sleek Sunseeker, NEW BEGINNINGS OF LONDON, where we were able to admire the elegant decoration of this beautiful charter yacht. Next was starters aboard D5, where we experienced the chef’s delightful gazpacho and cheese biscuits and then it was on to LADY SOFIA for mains, salmon cooked to perfection with asparagus wrapped in parma ham…simply delicious!

However, it was the fourth and final sunseeker vibe (VIBE) where the party really started with chocolate mousses, fruit and chocolate fondue, strawberry daquiris and Pimms. sunseeker VIBE itself is a

fantastic vessel, sporty, sleek and modern with a great minimalistic interior and fabulously spacious cabins. Captain Phil was certainly the life and soul of the party and it’s evident that with his expert mixologist stewardess Melissa, anyone would be

guaranteed endless fun on a charter on this 23m Sunseeker.

Next we continued on into the actual Antibes Yacht Show where hundreds of beautiful yachts were all open to the visitors to explore their interiors and meet their captains and crew. We also had the opportunity to walk around the stalls and talk to businesses from all aspects of the industry. Overall, it was a fascinating experience not only to go on board some stunning yachts, but also to discover all the industries related to yachting too.

Cocktails and Canapés on board luxury charter yacht BEAR MARKET.

Luxury Yacht Charter Mangusta : Last night the Boatbookings team was welcomed on board a luxury 92ft Mangusta charter yacht for cocktails, canapés and to have a look around this gorgeous boat. With her sleek and sporty appearance, yet sophisticated and soothing interior, BEAR MARKET seems like a great yacht for fun charters amongst families and friends around the French Riviera. English captain Jim is a great laugh and the rest of the crew were wonderfully inviting, making it a truly enjoyable evening.

From the Chanel cushions in the cabins, the beautiful scent of Joe Malone candles drifting through the salon to the Molton Brown soaps and Ralph Lauren robes in the bathrooms, this Mangusta is a delightful vessel, fully equipped with the best of the best amenities on board. The gorgeous sun lounge area on the top of the boat, for adults only, is the perfect getaway (not just from the kids!) since it was easy to imagine the pure sunbathing heaven you would be in, anchored anywhere in the Cote d’Azur, soaking up the sun, being gently rocked by the sea.

And one thing that certainly can’t go without mention is the food! We were lucky enough to sample some of the chef’s amazing work…ranging from sushi to gazpacho that would nicely finish a day on your luxury yacht charter! The divinely presented Maki rolls and wasabi mayonnaise were made to perfection and a definite favourite amongst the guests were the Tempura prawns with sweet chili sauce, not to mention the delicious wines that came with it!
