The 5 Billion Dollar Yacht? Yes it is made of gold!

What does one do with $4,800,000,000? Well it seems an anonymous Malaysian businessman commissioned a yacht made of gold and platinum. The boat also features furnishings made from meteor stones and Tyrannosaurus rex bones! If this doesn’t scream luxury yachts then what does?

The boat, HISTORY SUPREME uses 100,000kg of gold, with it being used on both the hull and the anchor. Here at Boatbookings.com we doubt this yacht is suited to the water, however as an exercise it’s bound to throw the major super-yacht owners with its closest rival being ECLIPSE with a build cost of $800 million.

IP. YD Have Unveiled a New 120m Super Yacht Design

Ira Petromanolaki have unveiled their brand new super yacht. 120 metres in length and a beam reaching a maximum of 20 metres, this futuristic design by IP. YD is intriguing!

This super yacht has been designed with sleek and fluid lines, giving the yacht an exclusive and elegant style. The design revolves around the principal V shape curve, which catches the eye and strengthens the stability of her form. The focus of the architect who lead the design was to create a haven for relaxation, bringing the guests and environment together. The interior design will continue in the lines of the exterior design ensuring fluidity and smoothness throughout. This super yacht will be able to accommodate up to 30 passengers, in 4 double and 10 VIP cabins on both the main and upper decks, in addition to 2 suites on the owner’s deck. These suites will include their own offices, dressing rooms and lounges, allowing privacy and intimacy for guests on board.

Benetti Reveals Three Upcoming Super Yachts

Renowned Italian yacht-builder Benetti has given us a sneak preview of three upcoming super yachts which are soon to be delivered from its shipyards. Every Benetti yacht is unique and crafted around her owner’s needs, and these yachts really show why Benetti is the only yacht builder to have won Showboats International magazine’s “Shipyard Number 1” award six times in a row.

Benetti FB265

Currently being built at the Benetti shipyard in Livorno, the new 63 meter Benetti FB265 made her first appearance in October as she moved to the outfitting area of the yard. The FB625 is the second-largest Benetti currently in production. She has a steel hull with aluminium superstructure and is powered by twin Catepillar engines, giving her a 16 knot cruising speed. She won’t be seen again until she is officially launched in 2014.

Tradition Supreme 108

The new Tradition Supreme 108 (BK001), designed by Stefano Righini, was also recently transferred to the outfitting area of the yard. For the first time in the history of the Benetti Class range, the sun deck, roll-bar and hard top incorporate the use of fiberglass-carbon composites, creating a lighter and stronger deck structure.

With 3 decks, the Tradition Supreme 108 has considerable living space that provides guaranteed privacy, with a more complete separation of guest and crew living areas. She can comfortably accommodate ten guests in five cabins: an Owners Suite on the main deck and four Guest Cabins (two doubles and two twin) on the lower deck.

Full-height windows on the main deck allow plenty of natural light and provide stunning views, while a vertical window in the wheelhouse gives 180° visibility to the helmsman. One of the Tradition Supreme’s main features is a large sky lounge and sun-deck, which were designed to give the owner and his guests the maximum enjoyment of open air living.

The Tradition Supreme 108 has twin MAN engines which give a top speed of 13.5 knots, and a cruising speed of 12.5 knots. She will be delivered in October 2013.

Delfino 93 ZAPHIRA

The fifth Benetti Delfino 93’, ZAPHIRA (BD005), was also launched last month. ZAPHIRA is the third Delfino 93’ launched in 2012, after AZUL in April and OCEAN DRIVE in June, and is easily distinguishable by her fantastic blue hull. She is due to be delivered at the end of 2012. ZAPHIRA has a beautiful interior, with dark Ebony paneling, designed by Carlo Galeazzi. She can accommodate up to twelve guests in a fantastic Owner’s Suite and four Guest Cabins (two doubles, and two twins with folding berths). Two Caterpillar engines give this super yacht a top speed of 14 knots and a cruising speed of 13 knots.

One of our favorite Benetti yachts currently available for charter is the Benetti Classic WILD THYME, with accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 luxurious en-suite cabins. WILD THYME is a 120ft super yacht available for charter along the French Riviera and Corsica with a professional crew of 7. Luxury Motor Yacht AVELLA…a Fantastic Charter Yacht for Events on the Riviera.

Motor Yacht AVELLA is an Azimut 105 that we recently visited in the Old Port of Cannes (see our luxury yachts Cannes). She is an extremely well maintained, elegant and spacious yacht and ideal for corporate events. She was chartered for the MIPIM just a few weeks ago and lined up for the MIPCOM, so she is very used to catering for big groups of people and the captain and crew are experts in doing so. English captain Gary Morton and his friendly crew are extremely accommodating and simply don’t understand the word ‘no’…exactly what you want when doing big events charters!

Up on the top deck of motor yacht AVELLA is a wonderfully spacious seating area, upholstered in stripes to truly give off a nautical ambience. We were told this area is perfect for meetings as it can be expanded and there was also an array of water toys, probably more appropriate for a family charter. On the lower deck is a great al fresco dining area with BBQ and fridge and a sunbathing area at the front of this 33.5m Azimut yacht for soaking up the rays.

Inside this Azimut motor yacht you are welcomed by an open saloon and sleek bar area decorated in a cream and mid oak colour scheme. You are then taken through into a lovely dining area where you will have the opportunity to experience some of the chef’s exquisite recipes. The 4 cabins are spacious and decorated in light, fresh colours and fit very well with the general sophistication and character of this luxury motor yacht.
