Berth Submission Date drawing near for the Cannes Film Festival

Chartering a Yacht next to the Palais des Festivals in Cannes is one of the best ways to make an impact at the Cannes Film Festival.  If you’re looking to charter a yacht this year berthed in the Old Port of Cannes for the Film Festival, the submission deadline is drawing near (November 12, 2007).  You will need to sign a charter contract, and submit the full application (there’s quite a lot of paperwork, but your broker can do it all for you) by this date or chances are you will not get a berth. Click here if you would like to know more about chartering for the Cannes Film Festival, and how it all works!

After that date, there are still plenty of ways to charter yachts at the Cannes Film festival, such as renting one to sleep on (instead of an overpriced and distant hotel) or anchoring one in the bay and hosting a party.

The Lagoon 420 Hybrid – the first low carbon production yacht

Our hats off to Lagoon for this fantastic yacht that for the first time adds the hybrid engine principles pioneered in the auto industry to reduce carbon emissions.  The Lagoon 420 hybrid has two electric motors, propelled by batteries.  These batteries, which recharge from the turning props while sailing, can run the engines for 2 hours for completely eco-friendly cruising.  There is an onboard diesel generator that kicks in if the batteries get too low so that you can motor for more than two hours if necessary.

Green Chartering – reducing carbon emissions from charter yachts

All yachts that burn fuel are creating CO2 emissions, further adding to the climate change threat.  We believe that the yachting community should do more about it. Like selling carbon offsets to charterers. And promoting boats such as the new Lagoon 420 that have self charging electric motors and have a zero carbon footprint.  Click here to learn more about low carbon emissions charter.

MIPIM yacht availability

MIPIM is a huge real estate industry trade show that takes place every year in Cannes, France during the month of March.  Of interest to the boating community are the large number of spectacular yachts that are chartered to sit alongide the Palais des Festivals, serving as trade show booths and entertainment venues at the show.

If you’re interested in chartering a yacht for MIPIM, you have already missed the main deadline for submission of your berth application (which was September 10).  But don’t dispair, there are still lots of things that can be done to make a “splash” at MIPIM, such as hiring a yacht for a party in Port Canto, or simply taking your best clients on a cruise to St Tropez.  Click here for complete information about chartering a yacht at MIPIM.

MY Starship at the Monaco Yacht Show

We were fortunate to be invited aboard the marvelous M/Y Starship which was docked at the Monaco Yacht Show last week to mingle with industry folk who came from a variety of ports dotted around the world.

After taking a tour to view this magnificent, well equipped charter yacht, guided by Judy Smith, Starship’s private helicopter pilot, we were in awe of the plush mahogany interior, updated electronics, elliptical machine and water toys available to those guests who would be eligible to take a charter vacation of this sort.  She offers 3 King and 1 Queen, 1 twin and one 1 pullman accommodations for up to 12 guests with TV’s DVD’s,CD’s in all cabins.  Dining facilities for 10 guests inside and 12 outside.

She is available for charter in the Mediterranean as well as the Caribbean Islands.
