We discovered the definition of a Luxury Charter on board ILLUSION…

Luxury yacht charters Review: Majestically planted amongst the hundreds of yachts in the Old Port of Cannes, ILLUSION certainly stands out with her stunning 3-deck layout, sleek curves and pristine white finish. Whilst we recently had the opportunity to hop onboard and explore the beauty of this 152ft classic Benetti superyacht, we noted that ILLUSION is nothing short of pure luxury.

Upon entering her aft deck, host to a relaxing lounge area and spacious dining table, and through glass doors, we were welcomed into her bright and open saloon, furnished completely in white. The immaculate condition of Illusion and the beautiful attention to detail with the décor, designed by the owner’s wife, certainly add to her appeal. The rich mahogany furnishings throughout the corridors and cabins bring an authentic feeling to this stately vessel yet the fresh whites of the upholstery keep her open and airy. Her length deceives, as the sheer comfort and space onboard the luxury yacht; ILLUSION is a luxury motor yacht with features that you would expect from a much larger yacht.

The bar featured within the saloon offered a great selection of beverages and we were told that one of the crew members is a particularly adept cocktail maker! It was quickly noted that the crew have a fantastic vibe – all of them young, lively and active – and it’s clear they have a solid foundation and have been working together for a while. Claiming that it’s the best sushi they’ve ever tasted, the Australian chef never fails to impress his fellow colleagues with his fantastic Asian cuisine and will guarantee this, along with a whole lot more, on board a luxury yacht charter with ILLUSION.

Up on the top deck, host to yet another open lounge and dining area, is a stunning and spacious sunbathing area and mosaic pool with jets; ideal for soaking up the sun during the day and winding down in the evenings. The lightwood and white exterior give this luxury motor yacht an extremely Zen feel with its minimalistic and modern design, allowing you to truly enjoy a relaxing luxury yacht charter at sea.

No Matter What the Weather It’s an Awesome Day for PICNIC

Master on deck Stateroom

Beyond Outstanding Dives: Sea Saba, Alluring Caribbean REEF Field Station

REEF, a non-profit organization dedicated to marine research and conservation, would like divers to know about their field station, Sea Saba, a top-notch dive operator located on a small Caribbean island devoid of beaches, but abundant in spectacular dive sites! The island of Saba, located southwest of St. Barths, is known for its unspoiled natural beauty and lack of development, the island has fewer than 2,000 residents. Dive shop owners, Lynn and John, have made scuba diving, travel, and photography their life for well over two decades.

Working with the REEF program, Sea Saba continues to improve the knowledge base of their dive instructors. Dive staff members are all qualified as REEF Level 3 surveyors. “It’s a win/win/win. We’re making a concerted effort to ensure a great dive experience is had by all our visitors but also by our staff. If we can engage each guide to be more aware and knowledgeable and share this information with our diving guests, dive guides avoid burnout. The enthusiasm is contagious.” says Lynn.

Sea Saba understands and shares REEF’s mission to educate, enlist, and engage divers in marine conservation efforts. In Lynn’s words, “Fish identification skills are a stepping stone in understanding our underwater environment. By sharing knowledge, we not only create better surface interval conversations, we can hope each diver is also an advocate to use what power he/she has to protect this realm: the coral, the fish, the reef, the ocean…our planet.”

Sea Saba hosted the first REEF Field Survey of the year in March and participants confirmed over 150 species sightings during the week, including rare finds such as yellowcheek basslets, punk blennies, and a hammerhead shark. Divers, led by excellent divemasters and staff of Sea Saba, many of whom are active surveyors throughout the Saba Marine Park surrounding this petite island, were thrilled with the natural beauty of Saba, the perfect setting for diving and hiking adventure.

REEF has fascinating dive programs throughout the world that allow divers to learn and participate in marine conservation.

Meg Toppa Reports from St. Barths Bucket Regatta

It is an absolutely spectacular sailing event here in beautiful St. Barths. I was able to sail on Meteor,  a valiant 167 ft. Royal Huisman and watched as the crew practiced tacks and gybes,  raised the spinnaker and practiced  fleet-handed maneuvers.  Schools of flying fish and a daring humpback whale were playing in the surf, while overhead, a fleet of planes from the Texas Flying Legends Museum (owned by the owner of ketch Marie, also sailing in the bucket) dazzled crowds.

Celebrity sightings: David Letterman and Jimmy Buffet.  Jimmy is a friend of the owner of Meteor and will be sailing with the team.  He came on board and warmly shared a toast with us!  He seems to know several of these yacht owners and has no lack of invitations to sail!

Meteor won the regatta 3 years ago, she was fresh from the factory.  Last year they didn’t do so well so this year they’re ready to redeem themselves.  They have as their tactician, a veteran of four America’s Cups and three Volvo ‘s (formerly the Whitbread).  For up to the minute events please visit  St. Barths Bucket Regatta.
