Onboard the Lazzara 116ft SERENITY: A+ Luxury Yacht

Recently Boatbookings had the good fortune of getting onboard SERENITY, a superb luxury yacht that truly has it all. SERENITY was designed by the always innovative Lazzara team, who departed from their semi-custom formula to style a more customized yacht at the request of the owners, a family from Chicago that required, among other things, complete wheelchair accessibility.

Upon entering the salon via the aft deck we were instantly awed by the interior color palette in hues of blue and green. The contemporary essence of design has an organic flow with the feel of gently lapping waters. Thanks to interior designer Christine DeLashmutt, the traditional depiction of nautical interiors has taken a quantum leap into the 21st century onboard SERENITY.

SERENITY is a luxury yacht that is immediately welcoming. Open architecture on the main deck allows aft areas to flow freely forward, further unencumbered by the absence of cabinets and columns more typical of Lazzara’s interior styling, and results in a voluminous main deck that is open, airy and facilitates circulation.

SERENITY is an ideal family charter yacht. The owners are experienced yachtsmen that cruise with their extended family. In collaboration with the Lazzara team, they have incorporated custom elements that are both sophisticated and cozy. For example, the owners like to cook and the galley, designed more like a kitchen, features a delightful skylight with an opaque option, positioned above the convivial C-shape seating area.

SERENITY has a rather extraordinary toy chest, thanks to crew quarter design modifications made by Dick Lazzara. The yacht houses Seabobs, waverunners, paddleboards, and more. There is even a towed fishing boat and plenty of gear for fishing enthusiasts.

The crew onboard SERENITY has a great attitude. They have intimate cruising knowledge of Florida and the Bahamas and exude an infectious level of enthusiasm when it comes to having fun. In addition, the delicacies we sampled during our visit on board were superb. Charter SERENITY once, and like many others, you will likely become a repeat client.

Grand Pavois La Rochelle, France

I am at the Grand Pavois which runs from 15-20 September in beautiful La Rochelle, France and have taken the opportunity to board several yachts. The French yacht manufacturers are well represented, as you can imagine! Some of the yachts that I boarded are very popular for charter. The range of Lagoons starts with the 380, then 400, 420, 450 and 500. Also in the water are a fleet from Fountaine Pajot including the Mahe 36 and the Highland 35 Pilot power cat both extremely popular choices for charter in the BVI.

Newest Superyacht Deep-Sea Submarine Debuts at Monaco Yacht Show

Imagine the thrill of navigating the depths of the undersea world onboard a private submarine. U-Boat Worx has been outfitting superyachts with two- and three-man submersibles for several years, but their latest model allows up to five passengers to reach an extraordinary maximum depth of 3,300 feet.

The C-Explorer model reaches greater depths for longer periods of time than the C-Quester, currently an option on a select few luxury charter yachts. Deluxe onboard amenities include a fully air-conditioned chamber, iPod stereo system and champagne cooler. Relax, sip on a glass of chilled champagne and marvel as the enchanted world far below the surface of the sea drifts by.

The C-Explorer line was announced by the Dutch company U-Boat Worx this past April, and will make a debut appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show September 22-25. The company has been manufacturing private world-class submersibles for the yachting industry since 2005. Caribbean Family Yacht Charter: Destinations That Top the Charts

The Bahamas and Caribbean offer a variety of spectacular luxury charter yacht winter destinations with something to delight everyone. Whether you are planning an adventure on a bareboat charter or chartering a luxury superyacht to unwind and be pampered, there is an ideal itinerary for you. Sharon Bahmer, Boatbookings Charter Director for the Caribbean and USA shares her personal favorites for chartering with children.

The BVI is always a top destination, especially for smaller boats during the holidays. I have a lot of bookings already for Christmas, New Year and spring break all the way through April next year. The BVI is very low key and an excellent destination for families with children because of the fabulous snorkeling and the Baths at Virgin Gorda that children love to explore. If your kids are into the outdoors and being in the water paddling kayaks, snorkeling and seeing things they will love the BVI.

The Grenadines are becoming increasingly popular because the weather is fantastic and our repeat charter guests often want a different destination. The Grenadines include some very interesting islands, such as Mustique and Little Palm Island, playgrounds of the rich and famous, and then you’ve got the Tobago Keys, which are very good for diving and snorkeling. The islands are not populated with many boats and are a little more remote and somewhat more distance from one another, so although more time is spent getting underway it’s well worth having your own private bay at anchor for the night.

The Bahamas offer fantastic diving and snorkeling but there’s another aspect that kids get a kick out of and that is petting the nurse shark that has beached itself on a dock just to get petted. Then there’s swimming with the pigs. The pigs love it too.

It is important to realize that a Bahamas luxury yacht charter does not have to start in Nassau or Atlantis, which is where most people go. For a far more exotic destination, Plana Cays and Samana Cay, west of Mayaguana Island, on the southernmost tip of the Bahamas chain, offer snorkeling and diving that is absolutely phenomenal. These islands are thought to be the first place Christopher Columbus stepped ashore in 1492, so you might even surface with a couple of doubloons. The Cays are located about 60 miles from Provo in the Turks and Caicos. Charter guests can fly into either Georgetown or Provo and be in this really remote, beautiful place with no other boats, no facilities, and no people. For clients who want a spectacular dive charter it is a superb destination.
