America’s Cup returning to Valencia?

According to the Americas Cup Official Website, the Americas Cup is now planned to be held in Valencia on 8-10 February – although there are still at least 3 lawsuits outstanding – so anything is possible!

Société Nautique de Genève publishes the Notice of Race for the 33rd America’s Cup

The defender of the 33^rd America’s Cup, Société Nautique de Genève, has published the Notice of Race that will govern the 33^rd America’s Cup. As per the Deed of Gift the winner of the regatta will be the first boat to win two races in a best of three series.

The first race is scheduled to take place in Valencia (Spain) on Monday February 8^th, 2010. The second race is scheduled for Wednesday February 10^th. If required, the third race is scheduled for Friday February 12^th.”

Is the Indian Ocean Safe for Charter?

There’s been a lot written about pirates in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Somalia. And there has been some pirate activity within 60 miles of the Seychelles. So we’ve gotten a number of enquiries as to whether its safe to charter in the Indian Ocean.

First off, the Indian Ocean is HUGE, and there have been no instances to our knowledge in the beautiful and inviting charter areas of the Maldives, Mauritius and Madagascar. So if you’re thinking of a charter in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, we recommend you choose one of these areas.

Secondly, the recent hijack of a British couple was in open waters as they were sailing to Mozambique from the Seychelles. It is far safer to stay in standard charter areas, near the coast.
