Charter a Yacht for the Croatia Yacht Rally
The Rally Program
If you would like the thrill of competing but still want to have an enjoyable sailing holiday in Croatia, we recommend you sign up for the Croatia Yacht Rally. This rally uses ten identical Dufour 44 yachts and cruises through many of the most desirable sailing grounds in Croatia. There is always a free day after each race, so that you have time to enjoy Croatia at its best.
This rally typically takes place during the first two weeks of September. A typical race day involves a morning cruise to a rendezvous for lunch, a swim, and then an afternoon race to the final destination followed by dinner, presentation of prizes and a party.
The dazzling Adriatic Coast of Croatia offers incredible scenery, crystal clear seas, flat-water sailing, fascinating history, impressive medieval walled cities, great food, great people, fabulous post race party venues and plenty to do on the lay days.
You can either enter in the rally and participate in the racing, or charter a spectator yacht! Contact us and we can help find you a boat to fit your needs.
Meet in Sibenik Marina at 4pm and meet your fellow Croatia Yacht Ralliers. A welcome cocktail party will be held in the evening in the marina restaurant.
Day 2 - Lay Day Cruise to Primosten
An optional is a morning cruise to Skradin to see Skradinski Buk falls in Krka National Park or visit the southern Kornati Islands of Kaprije Kakan Privic or Zmajan. Then make your way to Primosten which is near to where we will begin race one tomorrow.
Race One Smokvica to Vis 35 nm. Evening presentation and dinner in Komiza.
Day 4 - Lay Day
Vis was closed to foreigners until 1989 and escaped the development which other parts of the coast experienced. It is wild and rugged, offering wonderful restaurants and organic wines!
Race Two from Vis to Hvar 12 nm. Berthing is arranged at the ACI Marina on the island of St Klement in the Pakleni group, 1.5nm from the port of Hvar. Evening presentation and dinner at the famous Meneghellos overlooking Palmizana Bay.
Day 6 - Lay Day
Take a boat taxi or sail to Hvar port, a charming town of great architectural beauty or just cruise around the Pakleni group, twenty one islands with a continuous chain of coves, all with excellent beaches. If you go to Hvar climb the stairs to the fortress above the town for stunning views of the harbour and nearby islands. It’s well worth the leg work to get to the top - or take a taxi. Another option is a trip to the original main town of Starigrad, famous as the birth place of local poet Petar Hektorovic.
Race Three from Vela Luka to Lastovo 14 nm. After a morning cruise to Vela Luka we will race to Lastovo. Evening dinner and presentation.
Day 8 - Lay Day
Inland the town of Lastovo dates from the 15th century. A path leads up to a French fortress erected in 1810 which is now a meteorological station. There are also some great bays to explore and most have restaurants with a quay to ensure a peaceful nights sleep. If you moor at the quay you are obliged to dine at the restaurant.
Race Four Lastovo to Korcula 12 nm. Cruise 10 nm to the start line then race to Korcula. Berthing is arranged at the ACI Marina and the nights presentation dinner is in the town.
Day 10 - Lay Day
Korcula is the birthplace of Marco Polo, legendary traveller and commander in a 1298 Venetian-Genoese naval battle. Korcula is a walled city of stunning beauty, with spectacular fortifications and narrow streets. Spend the day in the magnificent old town and discover the restaurants and places of historical interest. There is a great fresh food market and good supermarkets to stock up the stores on board.
Race Five Korcula to Mljet 13 nm. We finish the race in Mljet and moor at the quay in Polace for the function.
Day 12 - Lay Day
An island of spectacular natural beauty, Mljet is famous for its three adjoining lakes, with a now unused Monastery in the middle of the largest one. You can rent a bike for a cycle around the island or relax and dine in one of the many restaurants, or venture off along the coast and discover one of the bays along the way to Sobra where we start our next race.
Race Six Sobra to Sipan 12 nm. Cruise to Sobra and race after lunch to Sipanska Luka. Presentation dinner at the Sipan Hotel.
Day 14 - Hotel in Dubrovnik
Take your time for a last swim in a bay before you cruise to Dubrovnik. A view of the old city from the sea is also worth the effort. Disembark in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel for the first of two nights accommodation. We recommend a visit to the old town to enjoy the ambiance of this historic city by night.
Day 15 - Hotel in Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik is one of the most spectacular towns in Croatia and is under the special protection of UNESCO. Sit in a cafe and watch the world come and go. Wander through the streets and shops, explore the museums and walk the city wall. Early morning or evening is a good time on the wall as it can get very hot and crowded. The final night function will be at the hotel in the evening.
