Boatbookings shares insights into traveling to and from the BVI.

Renting a luxury crewed charter yacht in the British Virgin Islands is the best way to see all the region has to offer. You will begin in Tortola, where you will embark on a BVI crewed catamaran, BVI crewed power catamaran, or BVI motor yacht for a 7-day BVI cruising itinerary. From over twenty years of planning bespoke experiences in the BVI, Boatbookings has found that there are two ways to get to Tortola, both of which are simple and can be easily arranged beforehand.
During your holiday to the British Virgin Islands, you can either fly directly into the Terrance B. Lettsome airport on Tortola or fly into the Cyril E. King airport on St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Should you choose to fly into St. Thomas, you would then take a ferry or private water taxi to Tortola.
Ferries typically have a set pickup and drop-off location and schedule, with tickets that can be purchased through individual companies in advance. We recommend using Road Town Fast Ferry, Native Son Inc. Ferries, or Smith Ferries. Ferry tickets are also typically the cheaper option.
Alternatively, you can rent a private water taxi, which allows you to choose your pickup and drop-off location. The customs process is relatively quicker, and you can customize your experience with drinks depending on the company you use. We recommend using Island Time BVI, Chillout Charters, or The Last Mile Water Taxi.
