Ischia is called the green island because of its diverse landscape, mild climate and natural beauty. It is the largest island in the Gulf of Naples and is home to thermal hot springs that have been used to promote health and wellbeing since ancient times.
The scenic beaches that line the island’s shores are covered in wonderfully soft sand and the fertile soil of the island has led to the growth and production of the fantastic wines of Ischia. The white to try is Biancolella and the red Pere’e palumno along with the superb selection of fresh fish and Mediterranean delights. From the sea, you get stunning views of Capri, Naples, neighboring Procida and the superb Aragonese Castle that rises assertively out of the sea to protect this charmed island.
Procida, small, enchanting and the oldest island in the Bay of Naples, is often described as an undiscovered garden. The deep blue water of the sea is contrasted by pastel colored fisherman’s houses that characterize the harbors and ports such as Corricella, Marina Grande and Chiaiolella. This jewel of an island preserves something of the old Italian charisma and has featured in a few well-known films.
