The Launch of Blue Wake<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With growing concern for the health of our oceans, the yachting industry is forced to take a step back and contemplate ways in which we can use more sustainable practices when chartering. The challenge here is to lessen our carbon footprint while simultaneously maintaining the level of luxury people associate with this elite vacation. With this in mind, the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) developed a program called Blue Wake, where companies could showcase products that would accomplish both goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Introduced at the 2025 MYS, Blue Wake entered the scene with pioneering solutions that would reduce carbon emissions and improve design and function. With categories in clean energy, eco-conscious materials, and efficiency, many companies left the show with visibility and awards for their innovative work. While the oceans remain surreal in their beauty, it is important to think about the overall impact we have so we can always come back to their serenely blue waters, vibrant coral reefs, and majestic marine life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clean Energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Seemingly the star of the show, the main innovations came from propulsion and products designed to use clean energy systems. One Superyacht builder, Sanlorenzo, was honored for producing the first reformer fuel cell that would convert green methanol into hydrogen, providing emission-free electricity at anchor. Additionally, Feadship\u2019s Project 821 and TYKUN\u2019s H1 hydrogen propulsion system both further demonstrated how hydrogen can be used to power these incredible boats and produce zero-emissions. Solar powered energy was also in use on the Sunreef Yachts catamarans, making the most out of renewable resources. While these are just a few new products named for their efforts, it is obvious that the industry is making large strides toward a more sustainable yachting future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainable Luxury<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a seamless blend of luxury and sustainability, Silver Yachts was awarded for out-of-the-box thinking for the ship REDUCE, made entirely out of aluminum, for recyclability. Maintaining a flawless design and sleek exterior, REDUCE can sail perfectly through the water and have minimal environmental impact. Meanwhile, Sunreef Yachts turned its sustainable focus inward to the ship\u2019s interior design. Made with responsibly sourced or recycled materials, their Sunreef 100 Eco blends contemporary luxury with environmental awareness for a perfect, no-compromise product. It is innovations like these that that will contribute to healthy oceans and luxurious charters for years to come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovations That Give Back<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In a different approach, Marina Ibiza\u2019s Bio-Box stood out at the MYS not just for reducing their own waste, but for helping improve biodiversity in the waters they sail in. The new technology uses natural microorganisms to degrade hydrocarbons without impacting the environment. Climate control was another environment issue addressed with Termodinamica\u2019s energy-efficient HVAC system that allows charterers to revel in the comfort of environmentally sustainable AC even in extreme weather conditions. Initiatives are being taken in all kinds of ways to contribute to the universal goal of a cleaner environment and healthier oceans.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environmental sustainability has been a niche topic for some time, but with incontrovertible evidence of the negative impact that humans have on the earth, it is time to start getting creative in the ways we look out for our planet and give back to the oceans that have given so much to us. The MYS found a way to give eco-friendly practices a competitive push through Blue Wake.
