You can do a self-guided tour of the temple&#8217;s remains.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"516\" class=\"wp-image-61113\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatbookings.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Marae_Raiatea_2-1024x516.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption>by Michel-georges bernard<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We then took a hike up the hill to get a view of the island and atoll from a different perspective. It was humid but worth the 40-minute hike!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" height=\"864\" class=\"wp-image-61103\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatbookings.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/928EC3D5-E9CB-4215-BBB7-49DDF3E34F23-edited.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Jerome then sailed us to the south of the island and anchored in a pretty bay for lunch, this time marinated chicken and pineapple skewers.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" class=\"wp-image-61121\" src=\"https:\/\/www.boatbookings.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/36316AB7-FA65-4F6A-9ADA-1BB1CF66D424_1_105_c-edited.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>We sailed just a short distance north for our evening&#8217;s anchorage.
