The world of surfing turns its attention to the South Pacific island of Fiji<\/strong> <\/a>at this time of year, as the Fiji Pro surfing tournament is held at the world renowned Cloudbreak, near Tavarua Island off the west coast of Fiji.The women’s competition was won last week by Johanne Defay of France, and the men’s competition starts on the 5th June. Many watersports and sailing enthusiasts turn up just to watch the action, a fabulous way to pass a few days on your yacht charter Fiji.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in the middle of the South Pacific<\/a><\/strong>, midway between Australia and Tahiti, Fiji is an archipelago of over 300 spectacular islands, full of white sandy beaches, and surrounded by some of the clearest tropical waters on Earth.<\/p>\n

Some of the best surfing in the world can be found in the waters of Fiji, with all year round waves, for beginners and experts alike, and many waves that are often voted as some of the best in the world.<\/p>\n

Fiji has wonderful tropical temperatures all year round, with air and water temperatures always in the mid-70’s to mid-80’s Fahrenheit. “Winter” runs from around April to October, with low-pressure systems from New Zealand sending consistent large swells towards Fiji, and releasing very high waves in the surf breaks. The summer, from November to March, is warmer, wetter and more humid, with lighter winds and shorter swells.<\/p>\n
