\"\"<\/a>Alloy Yachts<\/a> shipyard, located in New Zealand, announced today the launch of the largest sailing yacht ever built in the Southern Hemisphere, 220 foot VERTIGO. For over two years the world has been anticipating the launch of this somewhat secretive build, and this morning she gracefully slipped into the waters adjacent to the yard, much to the thrill of all onlookers.<\/p>\n

Alloy Yachts began building the 220 foot ketch in October of 2008. Naval Architect Phillippe \"\"<\/a>Briand was charged with the design of this high performance sailing yacht capable of transoceanic cruising. The interior design of the yacht was conceived by the famous French designer, Christian Liaigre, whose design principle was based on the client requirement for an atmosphere of \u201curban at sea\u201d.<\/p>\n
