Introduced in 1991 by Jeanneau, designed by Phillipe Briand, as a replacement to the Sun Kiss 47 model.

The Sun Odyssey 47 is very stable, performing like a blue water boat rather than a charter vessel. She will not bang when you sail against the waves and is easy steered when sailing down-wind.

Finished in teak wood she is both wide and comfortable.

All halyards, control lines and sheets are lead aft to either side of the companionway, where they are controlled by Lewmar self-tailing winches placed behind a bank of stoppers. Due to the rolling mechanisms on both sails this makes navigation of such a size boat easy, even for one person.
