In praise of simplicity. For more comfort and precision, the helmsman has the genoa winches available beside the large leather trimmed wheel. He can settle comfortably at the solid steering console, which holds the instruments, and adjust the mainsail single-handed thanks to the traveller fitted on the cockpit floor at the foot of the pedestal.
An ingenious system unique to Dufour Yachts allows access to the large transom, to the rudder quadrant and the liferaft stowage.
All control lines, including reefing lines, are led back to the cockpit to restrict operations at the foot of the mast. The crew can move around and manoeuvre on deck in safety with wide side decks and recessed chain plates. The two-part pulpit at the bow is clear of the roller furling removable drum and makes anchoring easier.

New ideas to live well on board. Dufour Yachts have studied how Dufour owners live at sea. The Dufour 40 lives up to their expectations with a surprisingly spacious layout that uses the whole interior volume. The simple, contemporary woodwork, designed by Patrick Roséo, hides a lot of clever details which simplify life on onboard.

The saloon has four closed lockers with ventilation slats, bookcases and large side shelves, and well-positioned handrails everywhere.
The L-shaped galley is very seaworthy and has large cupboards with ventilation slats and detachable fiddles for cleaning, vegetable sliding boxes, a fitted waste bin, synthetic stone workbench and crumb-tidy under the floor.
The navigation station has a large chart table, vast storage space, backlit electrical panel and an instrument console facing the navigator.

Lines which are synonymous with performance. Umberto Felci, racing yachtsman and Italian architect renowned in the racing world, designed the Dufour 40 hull favouring centring the weight and lowering the centre of gravity for a stiffer boat. He has used all his experience of offshore and round-the-cans racing to create an exceptional yacht ahead of current production yachts.
