Boatbookings.com announces results for Q3 2009 - revenues up 60%
Boatbookings.com announced today that, despite the difficult economic times, revenues during the July - September Quarter surged 60% from 2008. The yacht charter firm saw strong growth in many areas, including its offices in Florida/Caribbean, the French Riviera, Southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean.
"We were excited to see such a strong rebound in the yacht charter market", said Tom Virden, Founder, "we saw a large number of last minute bookings as people gained more confidence about an anticipated end to the recession. We marketed specials and last minute charters quite heavily, and clients realised that despite everything they still wanted a charter holiday this year. Some people booked smaller boats, and some booked for shorter timeframes, but in the end they decided to go for it."
"We have been highly encouraged by the strong showing of our Ft Lauderdale Office, where bookings to the Bahamas, Florida and the Caribbean are up substantially and this momentum has continued through October. We also continue to see strong growth in Thailand and the Indian Ocean - people are realising that these up-and-coming charter areas offer amazing opportunties for holiday charters", Virden added.
The company also continued to invest in technology during the quarter, launching the first Yacht Charter iPhone app and adding signficant functionality to the web site. Yachts that a client is interested in can now be stored in a "My Yachts" section, so that they can be easily found, compared and enquired upon.
